Can you also receive Italian mobile phone networks from the location you filmed at? In theory it should work since you have a direct line of sight but connecting with the network would be an interesting experiment. Your best chance would be with 3G networks, since those allow distant connections. 2G/GSM is limited to 35km and LTE/4G can reach up to 100km but most cell towers are limited to 14km.

Yes, that happened to me several times, but you need to be near the sea to capture the network of Italy. After that, I received an SMS as "Welcome back to Tunisia" from a Tunisian operator as soon as I went back to downtown. 😄

@@TravelerLensOfficial Thank you for the quick reply, this is indeed quite interesting. I am studying electrical engineering but I am also interested in RF stuff, especially telecommunications, so I always find those things fascinating. I wonder if some people living in Kelibia have gotten unexpected roaming bills due to this. I am sure that the Italian operators have placed some antennas on the mountain of Pantelleria with over 800m above sea level, so they can transmit all the way to Tunisia. For European tourists on vacation in Kelibia this might be an interesting way of skipping roaming fees on the coast 😅. I live in Luxembourg which is quite small, so before the EU free roaming agreement, you had to always pay attention when close to the border with France, Germany or Belgium to avoid falling into the roaming trap. Some foreign networks manage to reach several km into Luxembourg, especially when you go to more elevated parts of the country.

@@grima0482 Yes that also happened to me paying fees for just being few meters close to the beach 😃 and a second time in a place called "Ain Soltan - Jandouba" 4 Km near the border of Algeria, the smartphone just changed the operator by itself. those things can happen 😃 . I'll be grateful for sharing the channel 🙏

@@bejisondes1422 Basterebbe conoscere un po' di storia. L'isola è sempre stata governata dai Siciliani. Se poi volessimo dire Tunisina diremo Francese dato che non siete indipendenti.🤣
