I’ve played over a thousand rated games in my life and have never reached this endgame. I learned how to do this about forty years ago, so I’ve always wanted the chance to demonstrate it in a real game. Maybe one day.

Lol as a 500 I will never be able to do this. Like, I don't see when you play a waiting move and when you can close the box. But luckily I haven't had a 2 bishop vs king endgame in a long time. Usually it's either a quick checkmate, a win on time, or an endgame with a king vs like a queen and a bunch of pawns where my opponents usually promote the pawns to queens or rooks (to avoid stalemate haha)

I haven't had it on the board in my life yet so it's very rare and let's hope it will stay like that for us haha :)! It's indeed hard to spot those moments but the waiting moves appear when you feel like the king is about to escape. Haha I'll put some material on how to avoid stalemate soon! Perhaps it'll help you to become more confidence in promoting to a queen :)

@@ChessXplainer Well I know how to checkmate with king and queen so I don't really promote the pawns, I just mate with queen and king. But I have had a bunch of stalemates lately lol, especially when I have a whole bunch of pieces surrounding his king. I make a move trying to close in on his king and then he doesn't have any squares to go and it's a draw. Oh and this one time I had a queen and a bishop so I just moved the bishop over to the other side of the board, and as I almost got his king into a corner using my queen, apparently my bishop was blocking the king's square from the other side of the board so it was stalemate anyway 😭

Haha that sounds quite frustrating and for sure happened to me in the super fast time controls 😱. Being aware of it is the first step in improving so you're on your way :)! A tip is to bring the king to the side of the board with your queen and leave the other pieces out of it but the bishop remains challenging then indeed haha. Keep on practising! @@ChessXplainer Yeah I think I had about 8-10 seconds left in the blocked bishop one. The other one I was low on time as well otherwise I would have just spent more time thinking. And yeah lol I moved the bishop away thinking it wasn't gonna be an issue hahah. & thank you I'll check it out. Won't be playing much if any chess this week cause I'll be super busy but I'll keep the tab open
