Fishing off the beach and catching what you eat - what a quintessential Australian experience you are sharing with us - and how great for your kids to have this opportunity; talk about creating great memories and getting your life priorities sorted! Fun fact if you sum up the total length of all Australia's beaches it is greater than the Earths diammeter! Australia is rather isolated - but you can pretty much find any sort of climate and experience you wish here - from stark deserts to ghost towns, to underground opal towns (Coober Pedy) to tropical rainforests to urban, modern cities. You really are doing a grea job promoting the Australian country / surf beach lifestyle part of our lives - thank you! PS Do you ever squeeze lemon on cooked fish just before you eat it? As a kid I grew up sailing on boats and loved lemon of my fish! Australia has a great sushi / sashimi culture here too - many great Japanese resturants and if yo ucan score fresh fish and soy sauce - it is amazing!

Half fry your bream in olive oil then remove from pan. Grate ginger and fry until soft, add soy sause and oyster sauce. Return fish to pan with ginger and fry to completion.

Flathead is the best eating fish. There is a knack to getting the fillets of in like 5 seconds. Look it up.

The tractor with boat was for beach netting of mullet or tailor.

The flat head is good for eating. The other fish was a dart not so good. You need to put lemon on the fish. dip the fish in flour and cook in OIL. Bream can be cooked whole. beheaded and dipped in flour. Don't for get to squeeze lemon on it before chomping into it.

They are good eating very sweet flesh can be a bit boney pippies or beach worms are a better bait bream is a nice fish to eat the nibbles you were getting would be bream best way to catch whiting is to cast and wind in slowly they will hita moving baite

The tractor doesn't get bog in the water. We just pan fry the whole Bream with Soya sauce with green onions and you get that crispy skin with no fishy taste...

Straddie is pretty good but keep going north to Teewah beach , the K’gari (fraser island) the fish get bigger and bigger

Flathead are the best eating, better than whiting !! Minimum size in Queensland is 40 cm though. Tracks where emu tracks not kangaroos

The silver fish is called a Dart, not great eating but ok if you get a big one and bleed it straight away

It's pretty cool you can fish with your family/wife, most women would be deterred, they might break a nail or be disgusted to gut and bleed a fish!

When you do come back to Australia to fish you'll obviously need a fishing license along with this species identification/bag limit and size for Qld: www.qld.gov.au/recreation/activities/boating-fishing/rec-fishing/fish-species-guide/fish-species-id Every state has its own fisheries department; I'm from Melbourne Aus🤙

3 of the most plentiful eating fish on the coast, order of preference, flatty, whiting, brimbo. Smoke the dart and you can eat it. Kinda like a witchetty grub, you can eat it but they taste like shit.
