@@kevinasare4178 STEM degrees tend to be the ticket in and/or along with who you know. It's really how well you interview honestly. I believe most companies want people who are "green." Having experience certainly gets you in the door. However, they want to mold you into what they want for the company "without your ""bad habits"" from other companies. I've seen a lot of people with mixed career backgrounds and even no experience land roles. Be willing to learn, be willing to start at a lower position. Make sure you do your research and understand the company. There's countless ways to move up and grow. Especially within 6 months-1 year. I've seen it. I've been in this industry for almost 5 years. I have my MPH.

Happened to fall into industry randomly when just applying to jobs. I have a bachelors in Biochem and started as a Technician on the floor but have managed to rotate through Process Engineering, Process Validation and I’m now a Compliance Engineer - in very short period of time. Once you get your foot in the door, you can figure things out.

@@nervonabliss Sure. I started as a tech on the floor making $18/hr. Now I’m at a little over 90k. I’m currently working toward a new position in the next few months and I’m aiming for 105k.🤞🏾I have been blessed to do this over 6 years. My company is rapidly growing so progression is not difficult if you get your work done and can handle the growing pains.

@@Kaylinerst3663 Wow, that's actually really impressive. I'm glad they've been taking care of you. My heart says stay loyal to your company and they'll treat you right but I've also heard that after a few years and promotions you should try to find another company that'll psy more to have you. Are you an exception, what are your thoughts on this?

@@nervonabliss NEVER stay loyal to a company. You are your own business. You always make the best business decisions for you because the company will ALWAYS make the best business decisions for them. I have been blessed in my current roles and honestly have managed to avoid a lot of chaos with my moves. If I were staying in one position and trying to move up (ex. staying a Process Engineer for 4 years) I would be at a serious disadvantage. but because I have been able to navigate promotions because i switch groups and learn new skills I feel like I am staying fairly competitive in my income. That being said, I would definitely be able to command a better income somewhere else, but i wouldnt have the freedom to gain different opportunities (Ex. Your average technician cant switch to Engineer... or if I wanted to switch into Quality or Project Manager the door is 100% open to me at my company.)

R&D is the goal, so if I can find a company willing to pay for my grad degree then I'm in luck. Let's hope the blessings don't stop there (for either of us)!

I actually got my bachelors in Neuroscience and ended up working in pharmaceuticals. I’m starting a new position as a qc microbiologist for a pharmaceutical company soon and want to know where I should go from there in terms of growth. I always wanted to go to grad school for clinical psych but now I am considering going back to school for something that can help me move up in big Pharma. Any suggestions?

When networking, should the LinkedIn messages and emails occur during business hours or outside of business hours? My current struggle is that I am busy doing stand-up comedy at night which occurs right after business hours so it is tricky to network during this time. Is it advisable to network during lunch hours or during afternoon breaks?

On the 3rd tip you mentioned “blindly apply for a job posted on Linkedin, and then reach out to recruiters” How are we gonna know the specific recruiter’s name and we’ll reach out to him/her? OR Do we just generally search & connect to that company’s recruiters and then reach out to individual one of them to ask a push on our resume?

Hi, currently I'm studying MPH-Epidemiology in the US and done my Bachelor's in Pharmacy. I'm an international student and I got to know that MPH does not come under STEM education so as an international student it's going be difficult for me to have job opportunities in US as I won't be able get a STEM OPT extension. It is near impossible to get a job in US/UK immediately after graduating from India, it's only possible if you have a very steallar portfolio + good connections. The more common way to get a job in US/UK is to get a masters degree from these countries or getting a job in India at a multinational company and trying to get transferred there (though I'm not sure if this happens often). Another god option is working here for a few years and trying to get a MBA abroad and going into an executive role at big pharma
