So I have a legitimate question about this and I haven't seen anyone do this but why not build a TC into a no door or windowed room and just place a bag and two drop boxes one leading in and one leading out to transfer supply's to it

Awesome video man. This is sure to help out a lot of new players. Some things I want to add as well since building is my favorite part of rust. I am strictly talking for solos since I am a solo player and only build solo bases. I believe the most important part of any base design is upgradability steps. IMO your starter base should be able to last you without having to expand due to space requirements. For instance I have made countless 2x1 bases. My strongest base is actually a 2x1. It’s 32 rockets to tc or main loot and it can be 43 rockets to both if they raid on the wrong. All for 3.6k metal a day, less than 2k stone, and 67hqm. It has an indoor oil refinery and for 400 more metal frags upkeep you can have 3 planter boxes so you never run out of cloth and if you build a small stone 2x2 boat garage and add some fish traps you can have all the low grade/medical syringes you would ever need. Sounds great doesn’t it? Nope, it’s actually shit. The reason is UPGRADABILITY. 2x1s frankly suck. You run out of room real fast and have to waste time expanding. Only build a 2x1 if you intend on having a completely new base and just need a base for the first day. My favorite base design is off a 2x2. A solo/duo should ALWAYS build 2x2. Let me explain. On the first day of wipe it’s frankly very easy to build a 2x2. By the end of the day you can turn it into a bunker. Bunkers are frankly a must. You’d be an idiot not to abuse bunkers. You will not have enough metal to upgrade the walls so you can just leave it stone. On the first day your base is going to be 4rockets/2c4/10 sachel raid. It is frankly easily raidable, but it’s worth the risk. If you can upgrade it all to metal it becomes twice as strong which makes a huge difference. The reason 2x2s are so much better is they give you 2 full days of playing without the need to expand the base or having to move loot around to replace double doors to garage doors. It also gives you more storage than you’ll ever need as a solo. On the second day I upgrade all walls to metal and roof to hqm. No reason to honey comb just yet. Most raiders will just look to raid a stone base at this point. So basically you farm up for a base and then actually play the game and run monuments or pvp without having to worry about expanding. With a 2x1 you’re always having to to expand in the first 2 days which takes away from play time where you could snowball and it doesn’t have enough loot room towards the end of wipe. Having two sets of honey comb as a solo is over kill. Don’t do it, you’re just going to be stuck farming all the time and not actually playing. My biggest advice is roof stack. Roof stacking is frankly a must. Most people don’t do it because it can seem intimidating. However, once you practice it, it becomes really easy. It makes your bases so much stronger and more compact in a good way. I have found the best base designs are first floor bunkers, exit bunker on 2nd floor and enter on 2nd floor. However, if you notice a lot of designs have you enter on the first floor and that’s because they need to add doors so if the bunker entrance is on the second floor raiders can’t just raid your first two doors for cheap and then blast down into your bunker. With roof stacking you can have your entrance right on top of your bunker and it makes no difference in raid cost since it’s cheaper to raid from the outside through one layer of honey comb than to break a door or two and go through 2 roofs. This is why it makes the base more compact and opens up more options to you as a base designer. It can even make a base cheaper if done properly. I have found if you roof stack on only one side of a 2x2 you can fully honeycomb your bunker’s ceiling without having to use lower foundations on the remaining 3 sides. I call this a hybrid roof stacked base and I believe it is superior to a fully roof stacked base (all outside foundations are lower) because with a traditional roof stacked base you create 2 layers of honeycomb which is stronger, but costs so much more, especially in upkeep. It’s very rare for a solo’s 23 rocket base to get raided so an extra layer of honeycomb is a huge waste of time IMO. The other wonderful thing about roof stacking is that you can create a second bunker on the second floor to your 3rd floor. That is huge. Due to this you can make a cheap heli garage with some roofs and window frames. So basically you have a hybrid shooting floor and heli garage which saves you an extra floor of building therefore making your base cheaper. Another tip is to not be afraid of using temporary stone walls/door frames/floors. Don’t bother with using wood so it’s easier to pick out. Any experienced rust player will exploit this and eco raid you. Soft side picking stone building blocks only takes 10-12min and basically 1.5 stone nodes in wood for spears if you trade the stone at outpost. That’s super cheap and with auto attack it’s an absolute breeze. Also, if you’re solo build in the snow and by outpost. It makes gathering materials so much easier. Also, buy a jackhammer, the earlier the better since the more time you save overall.

I have to say, do be careful putting your tc in the middle of your base, if its obvious where your tc is, people will always go towards the middle of bases, having it off center some times ends up being an easier raid, but more times then not, can cause raids to take longer, or have people run out of booms.

well to be honest you can have a strong base, that is mobile and defendable, just do multi-tc and get alot of turrets and problem is solved
@WayZr
@WayZr 3 жыл бұрын
The point of the video is to compare the viability of bases using the same amount of materials. Which means the best use of a set amount of materials. Adding turrets or what not will increase hugely the cost of the base (hqm)
@konskript2403
@konskript2403 3 жыл бұрын
@@WayZr well turrets are 10 hqm per now so I would not say hugely lmao but I can see the video is more directed at new players, there are a few things you could have gone over tho that are in my opinion helpfull for new people and that is vending machine 13 rockets bunnker and using honeycomb as storage with window and half floor/vending machines, I understand what the idea of the sliders are but for experianced players materials are almost infinite

Regardless of what kind of base you have or how many players you have, get flank base(s), preferably one that is relatively out of sight but will give you nice view of your base when you approach main. Secondly, use shotgun trap everywhere! And turrets ofc to keep watch of compound, roof and shooting floor, all the relatively open spaces. Using traps is so cheap way to make raids more difficult and expensive. Flank bases are honestly one of the most useful things to have and severely underused I feel like. Be it solo or group, it will give you massive edge for online raids. You can ofc use it to flank raiders, have actual beds in there to decrease cooldown, extra gear so you don't have to run naked etc. As for small duo/solo, you can use it to trick pursuers and save your main base. It will also serve as backup in case you are raided.

First off this is a good video for beginners. However you don't have to give up things like online raid defense for more raid cost you can have all the things you listed in a base with low up keep, you just need to know more complex building mechanics. So great video I just think it only show the new players that base building is simple and can't be complex like it is.

Make your base out of 1 material. Different material is is like saying, throw your c4 on this wall. Specially armored. It's only 8 C4s (mostly it's behind 1 wall of better quality), much faster and maybe cheaper to raid right through the harder materials. And the most important point, there's always someone with enough explosives to wipe you off

You can still make a bunker, with mobility, with good raid cost and defendability, altho it will cost way more but you can, if you're solo/duo on a 2x you can build that easily, if you have a bigger group on vanilla, same thing, altho you will need to have people on every 6 hours ish to refill tc, since stacks on vanilla only go to 1k I use a base design like this rn and so far loving it, no one has dared to online or offline yet(smaller server)

BIGGEST TIP from me. Never put your TC on the first floor if you can help it, and try to get it as close to the first door on the base. If people door raid, they go through the doors. If they rocket raid, they almost always go from the side or the back of the base. They always try to get strait to the middle. I set the first floor to be honey comb with a loot room or two of empty boxes (in case of ESP) and metal or armor the inner walls. That means they have wasted most of their rockets to get to the center. If they are splashing up, they are most likely coming to thru the front door, so put the TC closer to the doors on 2nd or 3rd level, than the back.

with the tc being in the middle as the most important, what if you made a bases that seems like the tc would be in the middle but you actually put in in a triangle with 2 normal walls but one low wall and then put a window frame on top of it so if someone found it which you would hide behind a teir 3 or something like out bear skin rugs around and make it seem like a role player bases but if someone found it and you remembered to lock your tc, they would have to break it and either lose the materials inside or drill through more walls
