Please understand I never said that gracilaria was not sea moss. I never said it was "fake" or that you should not use it. I have a video for that as well because I use BOTH. youtu.be/wqx2mAcdg All I said in this video as that it is not IRISH moss. The term sea moss is a generic term used to describe over 30,000 species or genuses of red algae. The term Irish Moss is a specific term used for Chondrus Crispus based on the history and where it grows. Sea Moss vs Irish Moss veganwithcurves.com/sea-moss-vs-irish-moss/ PLEASE READ the article links provided in the show notes for further explanations and please watch the video and it's full entirety. Key lime is just the Same as any other lime or lemon. They all have the same citric acid. Also key lime is an hybrid like any other citrus fruit. All citrus fruits originate from Citron and mandarin, so lemons as we now it might be the closest to the original citron. Stop spreading pseudo science and go and do some research instead of parroting something here.

Soaking any seaweed for that long then replace the water will remove a lot of the nutrients and minerals. This is due to the fact the a lot of the minerals and some of the vitamins are water soluble. It’s best to wash quickly then boil or soak and blend in the water it was soaked in.

First great video I've watched several videos dealing with Chrondus chrispus and I honestly only saw you specifically talk about all the debris, shells, muscles etc. that needs to be removed before you start the gelling process. So great job on that. But my concern with using heat as part of the process would remove mineral properties from the gel. Can you speak on this pertaining to heating and its affect on consistency and mineral content? How about a double boiler method? Thanks !
@ampsa848 ай бұрын
Heating the sea moss release more nutrients as it breaks up the complex structures. Minerals are not heat sensitive so they do not destroy by heat. This is why you can melt gold over and over and it’s still gold. What actually destroys the mineral is blending, as the oxygen and water causes oxidation. Oxidation is what destroys mineral, you can observe this with rusting .

I read your pin and saw your site, thank you for that clarification about Irish moss vs sea moss. I think the confusion about “sea moss” vs what you called the “Irish moss” in this video was very simply cultural for me. Both my parents are from Jamaica. In Jamaica (what YOU or what Americans call) the “sea moss” we call “Irish moss”. Perhaps that is not the correct name (here in the states), however, in Jamaica (for example) if you ask for “avocado” SOME may give you what you want but younger Jamaicans may look at you funny and not know what you’re talking about. If you ask for “pear” then most Jamaicans will give you (what WE in the states call) avocado. Same in this situation; if you ask any Jamaican who cooks or sells food for Irish moss, they would give you what YOU/Americans may call sea moss. I know, it’s confusing!😂 I honestly never understood why it was called Irish moss. It may have to do with some Irish influence in Jamaica 🤷🏾♀️, especially considering they both make that gel! However, that is perhaps why some were confused when you stated “…this is not Irish moss.” I was certainly confused! But now I am convinced it’s just a difference in our cultural vernacular. Any-hoo, thank you for introducing this new kind of sea moss! I did not know it was out there!😊

Yes u can. U can even use the water to blend your gel if you desire. Amd from my current understanding, it will not kill all nutrients not all nutrients are heat sensitive and some are actually released when in heat😊

KZbin is not my fulltime job and it is very difficult, producing editing and uploading content by myself. I will be back uploading now that I have bulk created content in advance 😊
