Cine2nerdle has some of the greatest “It’s so over, it’s so back” energy of all time. Sometimes you can’t name any Korean movies that don’t have actors that also work in Hollywood whist your opponent runs rings around you, and sometimes your trapping marvel fans in easy baits with stuff like Doolittle and the courier. I've seen some crazy plays in this game. One time my opponent connected Jojo Rabbit to Amsterdam through Adolf Hitler. I personally like to send people to Russia. I've sent people to older versions of Anna Karenina through Leo Tolstoy a couple of times. Films like Nobody, Anora, and Wanted (2008) are also dangerous territory because I can use Khabensky or Serebryakov or something like that. I've also seen some funny moments in Northernlion streams. The latest one had a guy who used Sam the orangutan as a link 😁.

I'd suggest trying the Classic mode. You're winning without filling your genre win conditions, and getting people lost instead, so might as well try playing the mode where that is the main point. It also has fewer lifelines and shorter turns.

The problem with this game it's most about mainstream Hollywood films. It's difficult to take your opponent to American indies or international art film territories

The only thing that makes it like that is the starting films (and to a certain extent the catalogue included). I win quite a lot of matches by taking them from Mission: Impossible 2 or Face/Off to Hard Boiled or taking them into Jackie Chan ethemera (no fucker knows aything about To Kill with Intrigue).

You have to prepare a bit and look up obscure cast and map out a general strategy in advance. I've managed to strand quite a few people in obscure German movies through Tarantino or Harry Potter or either Zone of Interest/ any other Glazer movie or Anatomy of a Fall and Sandra Hüller. There are quite a few German actors or directors that can be used to steer them towards their own demise if you know your way around German language movies. You can go the Schwarzenegger to Ralf Möller route too Sean Baker works too in Battle 2.0. Not too many people know more than Anora and Florida Projects. You can get to Baker via James Rasone (Inside Man, It Chapter 2, Black Phone) and Starlet/Tangerine.

It's easier to do in Classic. I've had some duels in Hong Kong, Japan, Russia, France. I've been sent to the Bergman realm, and been stranded in the Almodovar zone. Good times. When you aren't thinking about genre conditions, you're more open to delve into some interesting areas.

You can use cinematographers and composers to trap people in foreign movies. Sometimes actors work too. My favorite moves are linking Ennio Morricone movies like Hateful Eight to obscure italian films, linking Goodfellas to Fassbinder films(same cinematographer) and linking Max Von Sydow's hollywood films to his Bergman movies.

Not sure if you know this by now, but some win conditions block the player from using that link. For instance if the opponent has a Nolan win con they can’t play a Nolan film after you so you can play Nolan films to take it away from them (or similar). Additionally win conditions don’t count in the first 4 rounds so you want to play your opponents win cons then too.
