Pac wrote this song in like 1992. He passed away in 1996 age 25. The song came out in I think 1998. Pac never got to see the impact of this song, like his many others had on people worldwide. The GOAT Tupac Shakur 🙌

He wrote this with a two-person perspective. He's rapping from the drug dealer's point of view and his response to the drug dealer as he tells the story of black life in the Hood all wrapped up in strong beats and Bruce Hornsby's whimsical soundtrack. He is a once-in-a-lifetime visual poet. Every word evokes emotional imagery. It's brilliant.

Hi ! Probably you heard about what's happening in Iran and #mahsaamini I wanted to request that you be our voice in your own way! And show your support for this big human rights event! So i want to say please react to the "baraye" song by "shervin" if you can :) This song, all over the world, has become the song of this revolution for Iran! thank you
@willarta282 жыл бұрын
This song, called 'Baraye' which in Persian means "For' was written and performed by Shervin . It amassed 40 million(in 2 days) views before he was reportedly arrested by the Islamic Republic and forced to remove the video. The lyrics are based on tweets from Iranians saying what they're fighting for. This has become the official song of the movement.

Please react to: - My Block (OG version) - Shed So Many Tears - Young Niggaz - Better Days - Thugz Mansion ft. Anthony Hamilton - Baby Don’t Cry - Me Against The World I know these probably won’t get recommended as much as they aren’t Pacs most popular songs but in my opinion, they’re the most introspective. And ones I think you’d enjoy the most. Great reaction as always and can’t wait to see you next vid 🥰

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this, hell I don't even know if you'll see this comment because the upload is a couple months old, but the backing track and some of the lyrics are straight out of "The Way It Is" by Bruce Hornsby & The Range, That song in itself was similar in message to this one (and also very much worth listening to) but not quite as deep and powerful. I agree, too, with your point that in this song Tupac isn't just saying "you shouldn't do that", and that he's also saying WHY "you shouldn't do that", but I'd take it a step further and say that he's also saying, where applicable, that HE grew up doing 'that' but understands now that there are better ways to do things, better ways to make money, better ways to look after yourself and your own while also giving back to the community you grew up in.

I agree with your conclusion, Gowers. I came to that realization too. About 2.5 decades ago, I was reluctant to listen to rap until others recommended i listen to Tupac. His lyrics diminished my pretty much prejudice one size fits all rap artist perspective lol. He made me aware of tailoring my goals in life to a more globalized harmony. That our purpose as humans should always be framed with that bigger picture in sight.
