This is a great option for people who are looking for a versatile tripod that can be used for hiking, photography, and more mam.

I assume that two of these Ulanzi tripods could be 'merged' so that you could use the wide legs for stability and then add the second tripod as a multi-section single very tall pole stabilized by the wide legs, yes/no? If yes, this would be very handy for 🌐360° camera "sky-high" shot (e.g. summit of hike).

Such a useful tool, beautifully presented! 👏👏

I was so excited to see this! Thanks for sharing the video of how they connect together - I like that Ulanzi is offering it both as a tripod kit and as a monopod kit - my use would be much more likely to use it as a monopod, but I hadn't considered connecting two of the poles together, much less the three that you did!

Excellent review, and the kit looks good too. However in the real world my fear with these would be mud and dirt getting into the quick release system, it would be a faff going from hiking pole mode then to transform into a tripod. How comfortable would the handles be for the duration of a big hike. Love Ulanzi gear and this is definitely innovative but its a no from me.

Fair points. This tripod concept seems aimed at casual hikers. Perhaps a future version will be better for serious, hardcore hikers.

@@Gemini_Connectyeah possibly, I really like the concept but definitely more for urban park settings maybe 🤔

@WalkWithWallace I agree. This is probably something that would be fine in a more urban area or for short day hikes. But hikers and backpackers who use their trekking poles for their tents or in difficult terrain? Not so much.

Based on this video, I bought the Ulanzi tripod. It's great, thank you!

That is one sweet tripod! Being able to pop off the legs and drop to the small tabletop tripod could be really useful.

Interesting product. I could see a lot of people buying it for the monopod/mini tripod capability. For $199, there's certainly a lot to like!

Thank you for doing this video! I've been looking for a solution like this for years. And I have two upcoming hikes ahead of me where this fits perfectly. Now I was lucky and got the early bird discount. Thanks again 🙂

Wow! Thanks for the review, I never knew this was on the market. I was about to back the ifootage Cobra Strike 3 on Kickstarter campaign BUT this has way more many uses. Only thing missing is easier single trigger deployant legs rather than traditional thumb / finger clasps. Perhaps for version 2.0 🤔

It’s like an ifootage mono with a komperdell camera pole. Neat!

the best of all of this is that by increasing the target of buyers (hikers) they could lower the cost of this item. Nowadays if you want to buy a carbon fiber tripod is cost around 400 CAD but with this option its only 280 CAD and comes with a mini tripod with an option to make it a big tripod depending on your trip's needs and all carbon fiber. It is absolutely amazing!

I like the concept. I just wished it was lighter .Also could have been much better with their F38 quick release plate.

I received this tripod a while ago... I'm not sure how I feel about it. The quick connection for the ball head hangs up. The sleeve that comes with it is super cheap and not long enough to carry the tripod assembled. So, if you want to use it, you have to take it apart each time and deal with all those parts. Like you said, hopefully you have a pocket or make sure you put everything back in the bag. I asked Ulanzi about replacement parts or more 1/4-20 quick connectors, and it doesn't look promising. Also... I'm 6'4" and 280 lbs. I'm not sure these poles are up to the task! Not to mention that the plastic flip latches are of very poor quality. They also missed a very obvious "trick". They should made a 1/4-20 small camera mount for the "foot " of the pole, so you could hold onto the foam part while using it as a selfie stick. Especially if you're using it as an extended stick. Maybe a female to female adaptor? Stacking all three is a genius move though! The ball head is very nice for what that's worth. Nice review! You hit all of their bullet points perfectly.

This seems like one of those products that looks great on paper but is probably mediocre at each of these functions. Like... are these really as comfortable to hold as real trekking poles? The shape of the grip and the strap say probably not. Can I put mud and snow baskets on them? Will they hold up to the abuse that trekking poles get? Is it really as strong and stable as the Ulanzi Zero as a tripod?

@domdomtran3 ай бұрын
To be used as a trekking pole, it must withstand the force you exert when pushing it into the ground. This can be up to 10kg of force. I am very skeptical about its ability to remain intact when used as a trekking pole after a few trips.

I can’t speak for the long-term usage of this product, but in my initial testing, it works well for light hiking.
@pennycarlson19433 ай бұрын
IDK, the legs need to be pretty strong to support camera gear. I sometimes use a monopod as a hiking stick and it's pretty robust. I do like my Black Diamond hiking stick much better though. The grips, in particular are more comfortable.
