Wooden house with tall legs, we too had alot of 'visitor'😂 insects, chicken, monitor lizard, wild pigs but mainly we manage to keep them out. 😂 Once i met a huge owl resting on my room window. We scared off each other. Hahahaha.🤣 But the rain, cool night not needing air conditions, morning mist and morning dews on leaves and grass were such a pleasant sight and feels those days. The tool with cockroach inside is called “batok”. There is an idiom “ibarat melepaskan batok ditangga”. Meaning doing something partly/halfway. Old folk used to put batok nearby jar to wash their feet before entering the house. And visitor will not place it properly, they simply leave it at the stair. If you want to have a nice sleep at this type semi jungle Kampung House (Village House), it is actually a very calm, serenity and interesting place to get rest, but you must switch off all the lights in your room during the bedtime, because the insects are always follow the lights, or you must sleep within the mosquito-net. In this type of night condition, you must get used of yourself on the sounds or noises from the insects, night birds and some small animals, otherwise it will be quite scary. Haha, but I saw both of you are so enjoyed and happy. 😍😝

We call it ' Katak Pisang' , kelantanese slang be like ' katok pise', direct translation would be 'banana plant frog'. If the house has a lot of tree around the house usually you would found them. It jump very high. If you found frog remove them outside, because somehow it is uncomfortable to sleep with the frog jumping around. ( I didn't know whether this is true or not but don't let our eyes urinated by katok pise because it will cause eye blindness, I'm sorry if this is not true, I'm not sure of it). I'm sorry i know a little about it

Cocroach inside LOL. It was just chilling inside. Banana and durian trees outside the house, that's a real kampung life. The bedtime is hilarious. Having guests is part of the experience. A little tip, if you do not want the insects, switch off the lights or switch the bedroom lights off half an hour before entering

Your videos esp this one made me chuckle & laughed. With bountiful plants around, friendly friends would definitely surface. The background noise of rain, crickets and chickens reminds me of all the great things of living in a kampong. No traffic noise whatsoever… Do the people tell you how each dish be mixed together with gravy , rice & condiments for maximum taste? I wish they had so you can enjoy what and how it is eaten by the locals. TQ Ichang and jimmy for exploring life in Malaysia.

Sleeping in a mosquito net (kelambu) will save you from insects when sleeping. I think the homestay should provide that to make it more comfortable. Thats how I used to sleep in Kampung Houses
