fun fact: this song was originally actually recorded back in '03 and was supposed to be on their album 'Meteora' (2003), but they decided to shelve it bc it was too similar in energy and vibe as 'Numb' so they decided to go w/ 'Numb' and put this one on the backburner according to Mike. But they decided to do an album re-release for the 20y anniversary of 'Meteora' and put this song on it. Chester tragically unalived himself back in 2K17. He was the first death outside of like friends and fam that really affected me. They didn't do any remixing or remastering of this song before dropping it so how we're hearing it today is exactly how it sounded when they first recorded it back in '03. Some of the scenes in this vid are animated versions of clips from previous mvs. A lot of LP's music was a display of Chester's pain in hindsight (you should check out 'Given Up.' It has a 17s long scream. He was literally screaming for help in that one)

@crymsonvega4854 Жыл бұрын
If you believe Linkin Park defined a huge portion of the early 00's for you, why are you not addressing the way this was presented? The true fans of Linkin Park are going to be very upset to the lack of empathy she presented in the video. She only said she was heartbroken because she said it in the text, but her body language says otherwise. Grief, Depression, Mental Illness, and Suicide is not something you can just brush by, it's a process. And the way she went about it was as if she felt obligated by mandatory to address it, if you only see it as an obligation it becomes less genuine on how you treat Chester and the band Linkin Park. This reaction should not have happened to begin with, her fans and her mods should have allowed her to listen to more Linkin Park in the past 10 months or at least inform her before doing something just because so many people told her to react to it. Whoever these people are that told her to react to this song, they clearly did not know what they were asking. They should have known since Maggie has a problem with memory and that her knowledge to Linkin Park was brief by only knowing 2 songs therefore shows she is lacking acknowledgement in order to appreciate their music. You don't jump on this just because it had millions of views, especially when the fans take the meaning deep into their hearts even after his passing. So with all due respect, all of you need to work on your communication before you present any errors that can be taken with scrutiny leading to a negative outlook from all parties.
@sleepingcat90 Жыл бұрын
@@crymsonvega4854 Do you not realize that she is a human and all humans process different emotions differently so the way you process grief is so much different than anyone else and just assuming that she wasn't genuine is extremely rude, and has no base for any reason to believe she wasn't.
@crymsonvega4854 Жыл бұрын
@@sleepingcat90 You are lying, I never said her response was not genuine. That only proves my point more, that she genuinely went into this with bias and blindfolded for whatever reason without anyone informing her or reminding her if the mods on her team actually acknowledge that her memory is not well. She just admitted she did not remember Chester's suicide and mental turmoils, so she processed this as a regular song that reminds her of Numb and not consider the deeper meaning that means more to those that acknowledge the impact Linkin Park had. The mere and audacious fact that you are negating this with excuses is baffling.
@maggiereneemusic Жыл бұрын
Hi Crymson, I am truly sorry if my reaction upset you. Unfortunately, with as much incredible music as there is with hundreds of artists, storylines, and facts to remember, occasionally some things slip through the cracks. Even though I try my very best to remember as best as I can. I only get to process these artists for one day a week because of my own engagements, work, performing, and studies as you know, so remembering each detail of 10-20 different artists each week is not the easiest, but having the opportunity to experience and share these pieces in any capacity that I can is so fulfilling to me. I hope I can do justice with future Linkin Park reactions and perhaps you can help me do so as you have done in the past. I really appreciate your information and your passion behind this music and it’s context and I look forward to diving further into it because despite having been aware of Chester’s suicide, the reason it didn’t fully stick is because even in my last reaction I hadn’t fully learned the “full story”. Which is where you all come in to help me put all these things together. I hope you understand and I really appreciate you helping me through this incredible art and these wonderful artists. I promise I do remember! Just sometimes not in the moment in front of the camera while processing so many other aspects of a reaction. Sending lots of love to you.

I do really like to see someone's reaction to this song who was not aware beforehand of the meaning behind the song, emotionally.
@crymsonvega4854 Жыл бұрын
Why??? Why would you say that? There were some cringe moments for me to see this, when she only knows two songs from Linkin Park it takes away the idea and the essence of Linkin Park. Chester's suicide and mental turmoil is not so easy to forget, and for her to say that she forgot like it's trivial is not something to enable. People have to acknowledge and appreciate Linkin Park and Chester before reacting to this song is. You have to know the meaning of the song otherwise it is meaningless. I also do not find it funny when these so called human errors or ignorance is played off as a quirk. Chester's voice and the bands music stayed in our minds for reasons you clearly do not understand. You need to be emotionally invested for this. Their songs with his vocals were relatable to us for good reason, because we felt these same emotions.
@generationofkii Жыл бұрын
@@crymsonvega4854 Because, simply put, getting other meanings out of a song, than the glaringly obvious one. Songs can have more than one meaning to different people, you don't HAVE to see it as one way. It can mean whatever it means to you, specifically. That's the beauty of music. If you find some other meaning that helps you in life, with your own emotions, that's awesome. Music can be interpreted differently for different people. Hell, you can even take a song not related to emotional content and even find an emotional meaning to it. I think forcing people to listen to music a singular way is not the way to go. What if someone doesn't WANT to be told how to listen to their music? However they can enjoy the music, let them. I do recognize, yes, Chester dying SUCKED. But do you think he would have wanted this kind of scenario? People telling others how to listen to his music? No. He would have wanted you to listen to it and find a meaning that helped you in life. Made you feel better. That's called being selfless, and I have absolutely no doubt that Chester is that kind of person.
@generationofkii Жыл бұрын
@@crymsonvega4854 To add on to my previous comment, what is the point of her only knowing two songs? So what? Everyone starts somewhere. You at one point ALSO knew only two songs, but were you trash for it? No. That's what I like about music. Music can reach everybody. Even people who just now are finding out about LP, it is awesome to see.

And that's saying a lot considering everything I've been through. Everything from my brother's murd3r, the kidnapping of my children, messy divorce after I found out my (at the time) wife orchestrated the whole thing. Now that I have full custody of my children, a new family with them, I can't help but to feel that with everything I've been through, more than I've mentioned here, that I should be punished somehow for moving past all that. And so I always find myself reflecting on the things that have happened, and blaming myself for it all instead of letting them go.

This was supposed to be on the same album as Numb, but had to drop one track, so they lost "Lost" as they deemed it too similar to Numb, viewing it as superior.

@Maggie Renee another Linkin Park song I recommend that is a different style from this song and Numb is "One More Light". I will warn you that it is sad and is about suicide. An American children's choir, "One Voice", has done a cover of "One More Light" that I love but is also sad because a former member of the choir had recently died by suicide.
