It's part of the design (metal plate at the back).. Size is compact in proportion to the built-in Lithium battery it has. A315 emits 2.2M negative ions every second. Surface is actually easier to clean, bec the surface is smooth.

Well yes it does and also to any close positively charged cloth/clothing or material.so even if you dont use the lanyard and clip it to you clothes it will act the same way.
