[Timestamps] 0:00 Memories of Red Days 0:34 Defective (Cracks) 1:25 Defective (Frenzy) Music was simple to do, this is actually the 2nd Engage related piece of music I edited together, an Engage Opening edit with the main theme guitar being 1st. I had Defective (Frenzy) loop once cause I felt like it would be too short other wise. This is probably my favorite track from Engage, in part Malear bias is a reason by I do really love this track. Visual are just the usual stuff I recorded. The I wanted the beginning to invoke the feeling of Alear in a nightmare until it turns into Past Malear snapping at Sombron. I had a lot of footage of Past Malears fights given I was fishing for a crit lines from him. I had to have the manga panel of Past Alear here, god imagine if that was the dream he woke up to in the game instead of the weird fake flash forward. Around 3:40 I about gave up trying and just used the previous two video's footage, if I didn't this might of been stuck in editing limbo so I made it kinda work at least. (Me ranting about Past Alear at 4 AM down here) Past Alear is unironically my favorite thing in Engage, period. Past Malear specifically preference wise. We may of not gotten much and we only know Point A to Point Z in terms of how they changed (if we see more of the in between with DLC I'd be happy) but I genuinely think they are literally the best written thing in Engage. The time we see him in the 2nd trailer before the game came out and the one small cutscene we get early in the game is really good at selling "Red" Alear is evil, of course we know the role was forced on to them for survival. The nightmare they have is just simply our current Alear's fear manifested. Not knowing truly knowing what you were like as a person before you lost your memories, with the feeling that something isn't truly right. His past self lived the nightmare of seeing his siblings that were labeled defects brutally killed, if he didn't act like a heartless killing machine, he'd be next. Even so, he knows that he *will be killed* no matter how hard he tries. It's likely Alear has trauma with the word defect/defective being used while the corrupted killed his siblings, forced to watch as an example not to step out of line or fail. Past Alear's feelings towards Veyle shows he has a sense of wanting to stand by her, maybe even protect her...though he probably know he just won't be able to. It seems he never had a close relationship with anyone other than Veyle before Lumera came to give actual love that was never given him. Lumera saved Alear, which likely saved herself in extension. Him actually gaining a healthy relationship with a parental figure definitely changed and brought out a more hopeful boy, someone aspiring to be like how he sees his mother. Past Alear shows he was strong enough to break off the chain shackling him after gaining the love and support he needed, though being rash in killing Sombron on his own, death hits him. In death we see someone scared yet clinging on to a dream. The dream being of a hero, a good dragon dress in white, saving the world from the evil dragon. To be like the heroes from the pages, a story for the ages. Past Alear was never truly revived after his death, all the memories except the trauma and dreams was left for the next 1000 years. Red & Blue, our current Alear was rather reborn in a sense. He never fully got all his memories back, but he learns moves forward. He may need to crawl through the mud at times but he would still, he move forward. The two Alears are different people and different characters in my eyes but build they still build into each other. Both has the same heart, one just needed time to break free from their chains while was finally able to make both their dreams a reality. *Both Malears are also hot-*

You put past Malear's character arc in a 5 minute video! The "defect" chant with his tears captures his much he suffered until Lumera found him. 'I am not a defect." Your edit when he strikes down Sombron turns his bleak resolve to survive into a raw declaration. It puts so much more emotion into that scene! Shorter answer: fcuk yeah Malear is hot
