I saw Christian K Bonner has a food safe alternative available. I've not tried it yet, but they came recommended by several pottery studios.

I looked this up! Thank you for sharing. It does indeed say it's FDA compliant. It looks like a viable option, but I do wonder if it has a temperature limit.
