Hummm sis. My mother almost lost her life to an abusive marriage 24 years ago. Pastor told her to stay. She did. Well, long story short she single handedly raised 4 of us with God's help. What did the society not do? Getting a house in Nigeria was hard for her, the church nko? But thank God we all turned out good. It took a torn on me and I wouldn't talk about it for long because people will tell me that *children raised by single parents are the bad eggs in the society* I am always like excuse me, if I don't tell you, you won't know. I still thank my mother everyday for leaving.

Preach sis!! This video is full of power and wisdom. As a Muslim, I enjoyed every bit of it. Though, divorce is frowned upon in Islam but it’s not a sin. Get a divorce if you have to, waiting in an abusive relationship and getting killed is suicide which is a great sim. May God give everyone who is going through this tough time the strength to do the right thing and seek refuge in God. And May God continue to increase your knowledge, Tolulope.

Hi tolulope, there is a type of abuse that's not usually addressed much, financial abuse. When one spouse is engrossed in addictions like gambling, and piling on debts in massive amounts and lies, deception, promises to change over and over.. the family finances in ruin...when kids are involved also, the decision to leave seems unwise but in the depth of your heart you know the marriage is not healthy in any way,it has become toxic,no trust, no faithfulness ,husband steals from wife, apologies are numerous, but no change behavior etc. It's unclear the way forward, prayers don't seem to bring the change desired. The question is, what's the best thing to do?

Addiction is not a joke. Stopping forgiving him without putting your foot down and ensuring he goes for therapy, go for deliverance and give his love to Christ. If he refuses then he can never change. Do not pamper this situation before that man ruins your life

People can be very careless with their words. More disappointingly, people in the church. I went through something unpleasant two months ago and my mental health was in the literal gutters. Many people tried to be there for me and all. But there was this lady from the CHURCH who was supposed to be a sister (she may even be watching this video). She didn't try to help, instead she went to her WhatsApp status to throw shade and said something very unpleasant about it. It broke me so much and I'm still praying God helps me forgive her. People go through stuff. If you can't help them, why make it worse for them? I pray that God helps us, especially ladies, to stop judging and making people feel bad. The church should be a safe place for us all. I know people who had to leave church because of these kind of hurt.

Thank you Tolu for this words, you are indeed blessed with great wisdom. Now just to add to this, outside the fact that we are all running this christian race together and all that, alot of people, christians in particular don't realize that you aren't going to be judged by God on the last day on how you lived your life but also you are also going to be held accountable for the way you treated his son(husband)or daughter (wife) he placed in your hands. So the judgement day is definitely going to be one with so many surprises,it not all about I didn't steal,I didn't commit adultery,I didn't do this and I didn't do that,it's still going to be a day where you will be judged according to how you took care of the spouse, children etc he placed in your care. The earlier we realize it,the better for us

Thank you so much Tolu for this much needed message. And please don't ever get tired of fulfilling your purpose. If some of us had such influx of messages a few years ago, we wouldn't have made the mistakes we made. When I was battling postpartum depression and was contemplating separation due to abuse (emotional, psychological and financial) in marriage, I thought to myself 'let me stay in the marriage for the sake of my son'. Few weeks down the line when we relocated to another country (Nigeria), the narrative changed. I started thinking rather let me leave for the sake of my son. I couldn't bear to have him witness such constant arguments from his parents. It was not healthy. Thank God for making a way of escape and making the separation possible. You can't imagine the PEACE I have been enjoying, ever since I took that bold decision. Life couldn't have been any better with my son and I back in Ghana. So Tolu, don't get tired of saying these things. There're lots of women out there who need to hear it over and over again. It would definitely sink in at some point. Thank you and God bless you. So looking forward to the programme on Abuse this week.

I have also seen two parent households in shambles where the kids are screaming in silence. I am an educator and I have seen first hand what children go through. I can tell you this... kids see and hear EVERYTHING. If you think you are hiding your pain from them, you are not. They are sharing it with you and they will often times grow up to DO or eENDURE the same. My mother always said to me, "no one will treat you like your momma, no one will love you like your momma." Please stay alive if not for you then for your babies, their opinion of you is the only one that should matter.

The woman actually opened up to some people but still made them promise not to let the information out to anyone, which they have to do for her cause it's a marriage situation. I think the solution starts with the church letting the women know God loves them as much as he loves the men. God has taught me that and I don't let anyone in church or outside church take that away from me.

Well articulated baby girl 👏👏👏I hear you very well because I was once in an abusive marriage for 15 years. Think of an kind of abuse I lived it until the grace of God pulled me out of it . Not easy to leave an abuser.society will condemn, call you names even isolate yourself. Women are actually not good at their fellow women . They throw stones and not give a helping hand . The body of Christ the church is too quiet about it even if you report. I beg , let the church change the way it deals with this subject . There’s need of preaching about this . After all many abusers are in the church. Lastly but not the lest my advice to my fellow women; marriage does not complete you as a woman . If you find yourself in an abusive marriage or relationship leave . Run for your life 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️. I ran for mine even though it wasn’t easy but It is doable. Don’t stay there and die in the form of keeping a marriage or because of the children. It’s not a healthy situation for you and them too . You such an inspiration to many young women, mothers and wives . God bless you and keep you long . I love you ❤️😘💕

Well said. What will people, say? Who are people if not you and I. It is really worth taking time to reflect on this because majority of the time people live their life based on what people, will say and as much as that is their own business, women need to start going into marriage with the focus on raising children that have not being subject to trauma and emotional abuse as supposed to focusing on a having a perfect marriage. We can't expect to be raising Godly children when the foundations are so wrong and it is a shame that most children who grew up in this type of household end up resenting anything to do with churches when they grow up because as far as they are concerned the church is part,of the reason the mum stayed and never left. Church is a trigger for a lot of traumatised children and hopefully the church as a whole can start to make changes and understand this.

Same mind Mum! I reminded my siblings earlier today of a very popular minister of God in Nigeria, who divorced his wife. I reminded them of the uproar in the society and said, the same society that said the woman should have left her marriage crucified the man of God for divorcing his wife, then. Throughout this agitations, my words remain that, no one has an idea! Her fame is one of those things that silenced her and kept her in the relationship.

Tolu I'm glad you addressed the issue with wisdom and if anything that is one of your gifts. In terms of those judging your sisters what is wrong with them, they are young girls living life not wayward, secondly we all live different lives and our journey/walk in Christ is different. Just today on FB I read something which not just shocked me but everyone who read this persons comment. It is to do with Ooni of Ife's wife Silekunayomi who celebrated her 29th birthday few days ago, the. author who posted the story now said "The Queen Naomi causes commotion on her 29th birthday". Guess what this persons comments were and I quote from the comment box "What is so special about her, what commotion has she caused? You better don't deceive her. A single parent evangelist" Hmm so look at that. A lot of people have been blaming Osinach but one thing I have been saying is these kind of statements is what made her endure and because Africans are so backward its hard for people live their lives without putting other people first. This is a woman who was the breadwinner sometimes when things like this happen to women we think its because they are not financially independent but this woman was, all she needed to do was to separate like you said she didn't even need to divorce, get her mum to live with her so she can keep an eye on the children when she goes to hassle. Divorce would have killed her career because I watched a reaction video on this same U-tube where a minister narrated how even her own church blocked her from ministering in church and even other places where she was invited, she got a call from a place where she was meant to go and minister last minute just for them to say sorry it had to be cancelled as they have just been informed by the church that she is divorced🤔.

Great message ma. Thank you. Its not ours to condemn and throw away people loved by God. It doesn't mean we condone with sin but as bible instructs, the one who is responsive to and controlled by the Holy Spirit should adress the trespass yet restore them gently....What more of people suffering but can't help themselves because of what we would say??? Galatians 6:1 (Message Bible)Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day's out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived. It's so painful we expect God to continually be gracious to us yet we can't show that same grace to others. GOD HAVE MERCY

Hi Tolu I hear what you're saying and just to add I'm in my 50s and i separated from my ex over 15yrs ago marriage is difficult it is also a beautiful thing also it is an institution of empowerment whether good or bad everything works well for the glory of God live or die where ever your marriage is seek wisdom of God and raise good children according to the will of God that is the lesson to take away from this story we cant speak on behalf of individual marriages DNA is never the same and ultimately the divine plan of is never within our reach that woman could have been me but divine plan and wisdom took care of that so that I'm alive and thriving today many look down on me, especially in my own group God has taught me to see such people as small-minded and he exalts my head every day
