you are correct dunnet head is the most northern point of mainland u.k. but like lands end john o groats is more commercialised and hs grown to be known as the top end of many epic journeys by people raising funds for charity. My wife and I are heading up there in 2025 as newbie campervaners (We are both in our late 60's -early 70's ) we are having some short trips before we go in may. Loving your reactions to my homeland and your little one is a joy to watch. Keep up the good work.

Hari OM ...potato cake??? Och, Jamie-lad, tattie scone! (Oh, and re last video, I use Hendersons sous - couldn't get Worcestershire one shop and found that instead - different but still nice; I use it on mashed avocado, as part of salad dressings, on cooked brekkies...) If it is any consolation, that return to winter situation hit the whole UK, so you couldn't have escaped it anywhere! Well done Sara for making that castle run! To hear Ady's voice now is fun too. Congrats on eight years and here's to eighty more - with Love and hugs, YAM xx

Blaming the bad nights sleep for that misspeak 😅 But absolutely stand corrected ☺️ Oh wow, definitely gonna try those uses for Hendo’s, had no idea it was that versatile. On avocado sounds really interesting. We don’t really mind the cold or even the snow, it’s just the grey that gets to us. Ady is getting more and more vocal every day we love it. Hope you’re well ❤️

Love watching your little family. Your potato cakes are called Tattie Scones in Scotland hope you liked that little bit of information. Looking forward to next week.

Thank you. Yeah tattie scones! Can’t believe we said it wrong, think it was a combination of tiredness and trying to describe them for viewers that didn’t know what they were. But we’ll get it right next time 😅❤️
@LucieH1987 Жыл бұрын
Loved this video, your doing Scotland justice! Was laughing so much when you said potato cake 😂 we call it a tattie scone (Potato scone) haha! I think John o groats is famous because it’s furthest distance between lands end (most westerly southern point) to John o groats (most northerly east point). I think lizzard point is the most southerly point in mainland Britain but there isn’t as much distance between that and dunnet head. Hope I made sense (I could be wrong it’s just my understanding) 🏴✌🏼
@TheWholeWorldorNothing Жыл бұрын
Can’t believe I said that, in my defence I was very tired 😅 Bad night’s sleep and all that. That’s probably the reason, hadn’t considered it but it makes complete sense that JOG and Lands end are the two furthest points on the island.
@Glasgow_kiss4 ай бұрын
furthest two points on mainland britain. thats why they are famous. not possible to travel further on mainland than between these two points
@kinross24 Жыл бұрын
Dunnet head always windy because of the channel between nearby Orkney as well as the join ing of the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean. The golden cliffs in the dis are Orkney and look closer from there or JoG you see the sea stack The Old Man of Hoy!

Oh wow, didn’t realise that at all! They were really stunning to watch as we drove round that bit of coastline 😀

I love the north east of Scotland and spent a lot of time up there about 20 years ago. It's wild, ancient, spiritual and has an austere beauty. And it's home to my favourite whisky: Old Pulteney 🥃😋 If you're ever back up there, there's a lovely wee beach at John O'Groats that's made entirely of broken up shells.

John o’groats is the most north easterly point. Not sure why that’s any better maybe because lands end is the most south westerly?

Smoo Cave is one of my favourite places to visited in Scotland. The original gentleman that used to do the tours unfortunately is no longer with us but he had started a dig in search of another chamber which is hidden behind the cave walls at present following some science with some uv dye, its a shame we will never get to see the end of that
@TheWholeWorldorNothing Жыл бұрын
Yes it’s amazing. And they’re still digging! The tours just started for the season last month but on the off season they were digging so it seems as though it’s still going ahead. Apparently there are only two of them doing it though so it’s slow work. They showed me the entrance and there’s no way you’d catch me going in that 😅
@ScotChick360 Жыл бұрын
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing awh really! That's fantastic that they are carrying on his work!! I'm so interested to see where it all leads!
@TheWholeWorldorNothing Жыл бұрын
Yeah we didn’t mention it in the video because they said they don’t tell people where the entrance is so that visitors don’t try and get in there. But they’re pretty sure they’re going to find another chamber which will be fascinating!

Thank you, that’s lovely of you to say. Feb is probably a great time to do it, really quiet, no midges, just the weather to contend with. We can’t wait til Ady takes over 🤣 Would definitely be great to catch up somewhere, do you have any plans to head overseas any time soon? ❤️

ANother cracking video. Thanks a ton. I meant to ask, is it ok to go to any campsite for van chores and refresh services even if u have not booked in advance? And yes Happy Anniversary to both of u 🙂The potato cakes are called potato scones
@TheWholeWorldorNothing Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 We’d definitely recommend ringing ahead to check whether a campsite will allow you to just use their services and how much it will cost if so. Some flat out refuse so it’s worth a quick call beforehand to check rather than rock up and be disappointed 👍
