as a filipino.. I can understand on how the western media treated and portrayed other countries as poor, dumb and uncivillized and im not surprised on what they are doing in africa.. I guess the best thing to do in africa is to make trade with other african nations and develop a culture of learning mathematics, business and investments... go africa!, don't listen to mainstream media just do what you need to do.. love from the philippines

I am disappointed in the reference comparison. Her is why; Africa has become gentrified. There is a lack of authenticity, rich diversity of culture and uniqueness of the continent. The irony, a museum to remind one of who they were. It was dishartening to see that colonization has shifted the African consciousness from one of a diverse culture and ancestory lost in a Westernized psyche of progress. Example of a skyline no different than any colonized western country, progress. I was wishing for hope. Africa where are you?

This so called Dr Mumbai is shallow to no end. Grass thatched houses are plentyful in the country side, and many very descent people live in them. Plus, many rural places all over Africa, including Kenya, are not electrified. Why does this Kenyan woman want so desperately to hide this? These 2 KZbinrs are annoying af!

Bro, when I saw the so-called huts/ Bomas, I didnt see poverty, or outmoded homes, I saw identity, ingenuity, cultural expression unique to certain cultures. When I saw the western buildings depicted in Kenya, all I saw was Europe or America. I saw a Money culture. I saw imperialism. I saw no modernity. There is no reason to be ashamed of the Bomas, or to join in the shaming and laughing with white supremacy or the ignorance of us western blacks who were denied an understanding and a pride of those indigenous homes. When I move to Afrika (being general by intention), I am looking to build my Boma, and design it in such a way to have a village community with others. One which doesn't rape the land, and doesn't promote individualism, much like these "modern" homes. I'm on my way to Afrika soon, in a matter of weeks actually, and will document my journey. ADVANCEMENT.... DEVELOPMENT....MODERNITY.... words under colonialism designed to shame and to usurp cultures into one super-culture identity. Yessi bro, peace!

Life Trod Exactly bro. These people look pathetic by being ashamed of our heritage. As a matter of fact, if you travel across rural Africa you will see that such houses still exist and not as tourist attraction but as bona fide villages. I was disgusted by Dr. Mumbi when she was kind of glorifying thieves and murderous as if it is a sign of progress and modernity!

As an African American, I see no shame if Africans still lived in mud huts. If that's their way of life and it's comforting to them then so what. There's people around the world who still live in something similar because it's their way of life. Africans have always been close to nature and understood nature more than anyone on earth so i can understand why our ancestors lived in such. Also, African men built castles in europe (moors), Look at the structures our ancestors built in kemet, A black man of the dogon tribe who's family were enslaved in the U.S designed washington DC and the slaves built it. We have the ability to build if we choose, I just don't think we have to live up to the rest of the world's standards. Let Africa be Africa.

No, we have to advance so we can protect ourselves from all these northern hemisphere bullies, we cannot be sitting ducks living modestly, there's room for that for individuals who want to live simple, but as a continent Africa must industrialize, and modernize the right way, not the western or chinese way, the holistic way that respects health of all life and nature, a true advanced society, we started civilization, its part of our essence, a powerful advanced civilization in balance and harmony with nature.

Even those rich men who travel to these beautiful country we all wish for, then don't get much peace, fresh air or fun as these people who live in cave. I took my kids to Disney land all we did was go for a ride and go back to our prison sell called hotel, my kids later told me they never want to go anywhere near there again , but our next trip to African they where trilled and so happy, enjoyed every minute of the day we spent in Africa. Our only problem was security. They liked every where we visited in African. African has alot of improvement to go through but we would make it.

Actually... that was how they lived... after our Ancestors escaped from slavery. By the time they returned to their mother land... their homes and businesses were destroyed. The thought of rebuilding, became so difficult, that it made them turn to mud houses. It was convenience and quick. Africans have always faught for their lives, as they fight to keep their land. This is why it took them so long to get back on track. Our Ancestors that remained in America, struggled just the same. Many of those who became successful, for their houses and businesses burnt down, to start over again. Not all of them were able to get back on their feet. Some gave up. After all these years... we are still hated. Because, our enemies can't stand to see us prosper. We've always been the people of wisdom. With many talents, gifts and skills, to do many things. That's why we can survive anywhere. We are powerful, but very helpful. Many have denounced their Countries, just to fit in. They don't realize, that they'll never succeed in claiming someone land. The time will come, where they'll be told to go home. Is that when they'll realize what they had? Why wait, until it's too late? Africa has been down for a while. But by God's grace... it is fast changing. Ignorance, breeds fear. You can only live in fear, if you're too ignorant to know the truth. Now that many are catching on to the truth... we'll not perish, like our Ancestors. Education is the key. If they refuse to teach you... learn all you need to know, on your own. Then you'll know... that what you have, is actually gold. You don't know what you have, until it's gone. Don't lose your opportunity. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Africa is awesome! Best continent on the planet! Hands down. However, as an African American, I do think that we should give a realistic picture of the continent. Having traveled to several countries in Africa, I can say that there are VERY wealthy people who live in modern homes that would put many mansions to shame here in America. On the other hand, I have seen levels of poverty that are extreme. There are also areas where there is NO electricity and forms of cooking are similar to forms used centuries ago. Let's be clear that over 70% of Africa is without consistent electricity. So while all Africans (broadly speaking) do not live in huts (as the African American brother said, any American who thinks that is just stupid), there are too many Africans across the continent who live in mud houses, without running water and without electricity. It's important to paint a true picture of the continent and not be idealistic.

Good to hear, if it's like the USA I don't want to go. That means I can live there and be me. I don't have to keep up with the rat race of life. I can actually live an extremely simple life. Eat good food and get a system for good water. I love it thank you for sharing.

The village is very beautiful, I know many villages in ghana, everything is very different and that's what makes it so beautiful. thanks for the great videos keep it up guys ❤

I am so glad that I found you on this KZbin channel I have been enlightened about today’s Africa. We only see the negative in the United States. Question for you, do you think that Ebola and the spread of HIV scares people away from Africa? As a nurse I know that people in the US are extremely frighten of the spread of HIV and it is highest in the black community.

WODE MAYA Please research Ebola in Africa it still exists and it is deadly we had a patient die here in the US about 4 years ago in a Texas hospital. The nurses that were taking care of him contracted it as well. The nurses recovered from it but are still suffering from some of the treatments that they received. We restricted people traveling from those countries from coming into the U.S. I will have to do more research on the traveling restrictions for U.S citizens I have not heard of any reported lately.

Only ignorant and uneducated people would think that African people still live in mug houses. To be honest as a women I would not be happy dealing with the first, second or third wife custom. This concept of having many women was also in other Cultures such as Asia the terms such as Concubine, courtesan, mistress was all women who belong to one man who still had one "Main Wife" The purpose was solely to keep the family line going. This was a practice among the kings and Emperors.

Even in Europe ,Asia,Australi and America people used to live in caves until hey build houses with wood or bricks. Most people still do live in caves up to now because they choose to or for economic reasons. Traditional homes are very beautiful and eco friendly as compared to modern homes. Like I've said before other human race are only jealous and scared of what Afrika and black people are capable of doing. And because we've been physically and mentally slaved for decades we tend to accept anything thrown at us without critical thinking. There are some people in the village who still live in organic homes and they are very happy. Some are due to poverty and some are individual choices. And I believe everybody on this planet should have a right and freedom to choose how they want live without human interfearance.

Living in a mud hut is not a crime. Using mud is healthier because it's natural and it is self-cooling in the hot tropical sun and it's warm during the rainy season. There is no mold, no lead, etc

In Ethiopia, almost all rural houses looks like this one though it differs some how. But, in some rural areas it is very very attractive and even more expensive to build than the modern houses in cities.
