the Town of Ooarai which the School and Town in GuP is based on has fully embraced GuP amd they have Carton Cutouts of Characters, Tanks oit all year round. Merchandise in all forms and sizes, Public Trains painted with the Characters and so on, the abaolute Heaven for GuP Fans and another fun fact: when the Finnish Museum that houses the worlds last BT-42 (you will see it in Der Film) was looking for donations to build a roof over their Tanks incl the Derpbox, japanese Fans stepped in and funded the damn thing

Nooooo, it had to be my favorite anime ever that became a patreon exclusive. I would absolutely pay a dollar a month for this but it’s hard to do anything with international services in my country, the banks make the conversion from local currency to dollars really hard. But anyways, hope you enjoy this anime, if you already liked the animation in this episode you will absolutely fall in love with it by the end of the season and the movies, the staff showed incredible improvements as they went along. The only thing you could discuss regarding watch order is the Anzio OVA, just watch it after the final episode. Some will say you can watch it in the middle but to cut the episode at a certain point to avoid spoilers, I think you should just watch it after. So it’d be: Girls und Panzer (the anime season) -> Anzio OVA -> Girls und Panzer OVAs -> Girls und Panzer Der Film -> Der Film OVA (Alice War!) -> Das Finale Part 1 -> Das Finale Part 1 OVA (Taiywaki War!) -> Das Finale Part 2 -> Das Finale Part 2 OVA (Daikon War!) -> Das Finale Part 3 -> Das Finale Part 4 -> Das Finale Part 4 OVA (Commander War!)

What I love the most about the student council in this introduction is the self-awareness of what they're doing. The president is the sort of person who would have deliberately choreographed a classic "mean girls entrance" specifically so the students feel bullied and exploited without any hint of curiosity as to why. (Why this was happening is in fact one of the big questions here, and while I think the first of the subsequent movies provides enough subtext to explain the entire situation as well as introduce those parties we hadn't yet met it's never explicitly laid out.) Likewise, the way in which they're hard selling the restored elective is designed to get the student body in the mood exploit them and similarly dismiss curiosity.

Good choice. I’ve seen all of GUP, and I can say it’s such a fun anime to watch. Right now, I’m waiting for the new movie, but the fact that it’s split into several parts with 2-3 years between each release is driving me nuts💀 I’ll stick around and wait patiently until this anime makes it to your channel for daily uploads. and GUP might not be a music anime, but it has tons of amazing songs like, so many. @@Kelven486 Ah, I got confused with the Das FInale OVA order then, I thought Taiyaki Wars was the Das Finale 1 OVA, Daikon War the Das Finale 2 OVA and that Das FInale 3 didn’t have one, but it actually was Das FInale 1 that didn’t have one. Yeah, I second this order then, though personally I am a supporter of watching Anzio right after the last episode instead of after the other OVAs

@@aqua4089 Ya, the Anzio OVA can be done either before or after OVA 01-06's. I agree that it's probably more fun to watch right after the series because of it's content. I placed it after in my order simply because it's OVA 07, so it'll cause less confusion just to say "Watch OVA 01-06, then 07" then say "Watch OVA 07 first, then 01-06". When giving large watch orders like this to people who are new to the series, it's usually best to keep it as straight-forward as possible, IMO :)

I kinda spoiled myself, but there's this channel who gave review about what GuP is... How it's not making any sense. If I'm remembering how he narrated this ( 29:35 ) part and see your reaction... it fits. 😂 Sadly, though, I'm not yet having a generous wallet to at least avail $1 membership, but I hope you'd enjoy this series. (And perhaps check out that review after watching all the episodes and see how accurate his review is because I'm yet to watch this series as well regardless of spoilers I've consumed.)

Girls und Panzer. (Yeah, the "und" is not capitalized.) Now, that's a neat little introduction episode which takes its time to introduce the upper (?) main characters and not directly dives into the main action of things. You mentioned the way the Sensha-do orientation video seems very propaganda like and yeah, I do agree. It reminds me of the way propaganda to enlist new people into the army would have looked like... and... that paper for choosing your elective... the way Sensha-do was so large in comparison to the other options reminds me of the vote papers in "mock elections" of history when the party in power was put up way larger on the paper than the other options. The student council is actually cool to me due to appearing tyrannical LOL And... its president somehow having a visual similarity to Kyoko from Madoka to me in terms of her face. I mean... surely, a student council the most cares about how their school fares, but those are extreme measures nonetheless! In terms of staff... there is obviously director Tsutomu Mizushima whose most recent work was Train To The End of the World which you hadn't mentioned in the video. Series Compositor Reiko Yoshida who writes the direct script of all series episodes, all the movies and one of the OVAs... I have only seen her work before Pokémon Journeys as the writer of three episodes there and that was far from her best stand whilst this here is one of her most popular and known works. Character Designer Isao Sugimoto (the one adapting the designs from the Original Character Designers)... oh my, it's another example of the wide spread influence the studio known as Studio Cockpit had on the anime industry since he formerly worked for the studio. Studio Cockpit was a shining light for many series - known for for example Dragon Ball and Pokémon. For the latter... a certain Yuji Asada and Masaaki Iwane also were from that studio. So... since noone talked about voice actors yet, I will since I don't mind seeing name spoilers like you do, but only for the six characters of note for this episode: Mai Fuchigami voices Miho Nishizumi. Ai Kayano voices Saori Takebe. Mami Ozaki voices Hana Isuzu. The little student council president is voiced by none other than *Misato Fukuen* who you surely recognize - even I know that. The vice president is voiced by Mikako Takahashi. And finally, Kana Ueda voices the black-haired PR manager. (For that matter... they of course do have names, but I don't think they were said in this episode.) Looking over the VA list... there are multiple other VAs who are definitely familiar to you in this show as well, but not gonna spoil who of course.

Even though the overall story is bland, I have to say that I simply love the anime for its attention to detail with the tanks, the sound of the gunfire, the clanking of the tracks, the braking noise of the turret-so many important elements. Plus, the information you receive and the soundtrack are also great.

I watched Strike Witches and while that one is bit too fanservicey with it's loli characters, this she is much more wholesome. As wholesome as you can get with girls driving tanks and blowing the crap out of each other. I love this series and the soundtrack. There's a anumber of OVAs and I think they're all up on HiDIVE. Love the blend of CG and traditional aimation. Oh and they live on a huge ass carrier. The OP and ED are fine to watch. As far as other tank stuff goes, there's the WWII movie called "Battle of the Bulge" that I think is outstanding.

Yeah, this series is complete madness but still very good. The opening shows a lot of the characters but isn't really spoilery. The order that Saru_Ika posted is good, but there's also additional OVAs for the TV series that can be watched before the Anzio one. There's also an OVA that comes out with the bluray release of each of the Das Finale movies. The series is just a single 12 episode season but then after that is movies. So your comment about animation quality is interesting here since a decent chunk of the franchise is movie quality productions. Unfortunately the releases have been slow for a while and the fifth movie in the most recent movie series likely still won't be out (even in Japan) by the time you catch up with the series.

I might actually sign up for the patreon for this one, but I won't be able to for a couple weeks. Watch order is eps 1-7, Anzio ova, eps 8-12, Der Film, then Das Finale 1-4. Das Finale 5 and 6 aren't out yet, and you can watch the ovas (including the Anzio one) pretty much whenever you want after the main show.
