I can't think of any Jackson Browne song that isn't as fantastic as this. If i had to pick one as a favorite it would be Late For the Sky. Beautiful song/ballad. ❤

Technically this isn't a studio album. New tunes, but recorded in hotel rooms, on the tour bus, sound checks, dressing rooms and on stage. This is the first time it was ever played live in concert. One of the most unique live albums ever.

ALEX! Love the reaction. That’s the great thing about America. You get to like What. You like. I hear you on not understanding the words. The melody and groove to the song is what makes it catchy to you. Then when you find out the words it’s even a better song. Keepm coming

You would probably really enjoy the two song combination load out followed by stay. Load out is quite a bit of him just at the piano and he's talking about what it's like after the huge Arena crowds leave and the adrenaline rush is dropping off and he just wants to sit at his piano and play more and more. And then he talks about they'll be in a different city the next day he's not even sure which one, Drive the hours away, but then when they get ready to play and the lights come up on stage and the audience cheers, it makes it all worthwhile. But it's just really well written and very emotional and then it goes into the song stay, which is kind of a a tip of the hat to both their audiences but also to 50s pop music, with exaggerated falsetto singing and that basic chord progression that you hear in so many 1950s songs and overall it's just a feel-good thing. But I love the lyrics on running on empty. He talks about what his life was like at 17 and then 21 and then a little later and now you don't know how old he is but he's older and he's still running on empty. He casts around for some of his old friends but when he looks into their eyes, he can see that they're running too. Kind of lonely but then we're all into this together feeling.
