"They" have known for years what this causes. There is a university test garden (not at a university but on private land) close to us that has been testing these chemicals on their plants for decades and then sells them to the unknowing public. People think it is healthy buying directly from farmers. The county agriculture extension agent (a government employee who works closely with the university) told his wife to never buy from that farm. When the guy who oversees these tests doesn't want those vegetables and fruits on his family table, that tells me all I need to know.

This video was a sad eye opener. I have been trying to buy everything non gmo, and now this. They are doing so many things to our food and working around all of the labeling laws. In the US I just found out that they are putting produce in gas chambers and infusing it with chemical preservatives. It doesn't have to be labeled at all (in other words it isn't), and is also allowed for use on organics and non GMO. The produce can look fresh on the shelf a year later. Imagine what that is doing to us. This stuff is pressure infused so it's all the way throughout and can't be washed or peeled off. Also they have discovered a lot of the oats and wheat are contaminated with a growth agent that is banned here but allowed in countries that we import from. That chemical is an endocrine disruptor which can delay puberty and cause infertility among other things. It was found on the organic varieties too.

Great info Lilly! GMO foods unfortunately have been sold in the USA for about 30 years starting with the "Flavr Savr" Tomato in 1994. I am not a scientist however it seems to me that one way to gauge the impact of these foods on health is to see if these foods have caused an increase of gastro-intestinal problems in the population. This should be the first indicator of a correlation with these foods causing health issues in the digestive tract. Monsanto did the same thing in the USA selling GMO corn for feed to farmers with all of the same restrictions and limitations that are starting in the EU. Soil needs more than fertilizer to grow healthy crops. It needs minerals as well. A good movie depiction of crops failing was in the movie "Apocalypto". The Mayans passing through the poorer farm areas in that movie witnessed poor and dead crops and barren fields with the people living nearby suffering all sorts of malnutrition and disease issues. My prayers are with you that the voters in Austria may be able to ban these engineered products.

all my neighbors are farmers. when I asked why don't u go green and not buy gmo seeds. I'm told they would loose everything and go broke. the contracts they have with the seed providers have them backed into a corner. also monsanto *now bayer, gave small farmers in central america free seeds for planting....so of course they accepted it. however when they saved and tried to replant the next year they got zip....no corn......they revolted and took bayer to court and WON......

Lilly, Short question..What do they do (use or dispose of) with all the pig poop? Here in Colorado the big worry is collecting and running the poop through water treatment plants and injecting the result into the ground just as they do with human waste. Hungary has constitutional ban on GMO products. I see that the EU has continued to allow heirloom seeds for now, but I'm not sure whether the planting of GMO seeds is even allowed in Hungary.

Same in Russia. I don't believe they sanctioned Austrian pork, they banned it's import because of GMO feed. If Austria is only now talking about importing feed from S America, you can bet they've been doing it for a while. Here in the US, they do this crap all the time.

@@MrFooqair You are correct, we in Russia do not allow GMO products, and if some imported stuff contains "traces of GMO", it has to be said so in large print on the lable. And in regards of banning import of pork from Austria, I do remember that at first our sanitary department found a few cases of virus infected pigs (live stock), and after thorough analyses they found that pigs were raised on GMO feed. BTW, more and more farmers from Australia, Canada and Germany immigrate to Russia precisely for the reasons Lilly has mentioned. Of course, traditional farming is much more complicated and risky, but its worth it, and our government supports foreign farmers by leasing land for 5 years free of charge, and no taxes for the first 2 years of operation. I enjoy following a Canadian farmer ("Countryside Acres"), who moved to Russia recently with his 8 children, and 2 Aussie families, who live in our Altay region ("Backyard Russia" and "Russian Guy"). Same in Serbia. We have a law that bans production, distribution and even transport of GMOs in and over our country. The EU is pushing us to change this and one other law that bans foreigners from owning agricultural land in Serbia. This are some of the many reasons why approximately 80% of us oppose the continuation of EU joining process.

Food will never be the same. Humanity is on the brink of a major change. We need to take charge of our own food on a local level. If someone else provides your food, shelter, clothing it is time to shift your paradigm and become more self-sufficient. This has been going on in the US for decades now. People need land for that. And not everyone can have land. I live in an apartment. I wish I could afford my own house. I'd grow everything myself. You also should have your own water well, electricity, and stored fuel. Also good for everyone to learn first aid and have a nice health kit with essentials.

@@joanofarcxxi yes, a little land is key. They are making great strides in urban gardening, but it hasn't taken off yet. It probably won't take off now with news media saying 'backyard gardens are bad for the environment". Time to head for the mountains and hills to escape this pestilential panopticon we are living in. This is where it will get really interesting for people. I think a lot of people will feel they don't have a choice but to use whatever the government rolls out concerning their food (or don't know/care how their food shows up). They may continue to fight but within the panopticon. Others will choose to do whatever it takes to find food, shelter, clothing from other avenues. Trade and barter will become a thing among them.

Seems the 1st I saw was GMO seedless Watermelons which seemed a good thing..but it was an awful idea. Now watermelons what few seeds you find are tiny and the melons taste awful in comparison to what used to be ... same for tomatoes and the rest of our food supply.

Lilly, the EU was designed by a German lawyer who served the German govt in the 30s and 40s. I can’t be more specific as I will get blocked. Remember the Pu..ch in the southern German capital in 1923? Well, the guy with the toothbrush moustache learned his lesson, realized he couldn’t collect enough physical force to achieve his goals so he then correctly decided to use political force to change the laws instead. New laws enable new powers, all backed up by courts, police and the army. Unfortunately for him, he still didn’t get enough physical power and he lost his “struggle”. So after the 40s, his lawyer then followed the same lesson learned in 1923, using politics and new laws. This is where the EEC, EU come from. They are the horse from the story about Troy.

Our pastor had divided his land into 7 sections and let's 1 section "rest" each year. This follows the Biblical principle that the Lord required with His people. His yield the next year was almost 4 times as much on that one section.

Another thing I thought. With modified seeds, it can be set up that each public seed packet grows but dies before fruiting. But landowner, entrepreneur Bill gets private sale packets, and his seed matures fully.

In the USA in 1970 laws were strengthened that allowed large industrial companies to take Old heirloom plants change its name a little and supposedly produce a new variety. Then patent it and they had complete control of that seed for twenty five years. It became illegal to save seed from those plants. Then if a neighboring farm planted GMO crops and it cross pollinated with your crops that you saved seed from that also was illegaland you faced legal punishment because they contaminated your crop. It is time to save your own seeds from the heirloom plants because they are disappearing from the market.

I'm angry too! I bought organic lemons, a lime, a grapefruit, and a pear. I bought them to not only eat but also to grow the seeds. To my surprise the lemons and the pear had seeds but the lime and the grapefruit did not. In order to have "seedless" fruit they have to be genetically modified. Watch and ask questions about "organic" fruit. They may be GMO but grown organically. USA citizen here and I bought these at a co-op. How unscrupulous.
