I worked at International Harvester's FARMALL PLANT right after I graduated from College, fall of 1976 to 1980 or '81. I was a production scheduler for a gear machining depth. After a short lay-off I was called back and was a Material Scheduler, what most all other companies called a Buyer or Purchasing Agent. I was one of the few employees that actually had experience driving/running ag tractors, everything from a 1939 FARMALL H, a '51 FARMALL M, and my 1954 Super H with a loader clears ALL the snow out of my large driveway. Ohhh, I have THREE IH Cub Cadets and a Cub Cadet Zero-turn mower I use to mower my 2.3 acres every week. 8 years and over 800 operating hours and not a single problem with it. My DAD owned three John Deere's, a 1940 model B, I'm amazed Deere ever sold an A or B or G to anyone that had been around a similar sized FARMALL. DAD also had a John Deere R diesel. It's the reason my ears ring day and night 7 days a week 52 weeks a year. Too bad there weren't noise limits in the 1940's and 1950's like there is today. After running the R 8 to 10 hours my ears would ring ALL NIGHT LONG till sometime the next morning, then start all over again running the dawned thing again. The 1963 4010 diesel Dad bought at an auction seemed like a decent tractor, but it was possessed by gremlins, any day It ran long enough that I didn't have to WALK back to the house was a good day, it should have been able to pull a 5 bottom plow but we had to pull the same 4-bottom plow our 450 FARMALL pulled for years. The 450 was a rock solid reliable tractor, just burned a lot of gasoline. The shop that repaired the power take-off failure when the 4 bolts held in by RED Lock-tite, split lockwashers, star styled lock washers, a couple sticks of 7018 welding rod would have worked better, I've seen several 3010 & 4010 with the 4 capscrews welded tight. The engineer at Waterloo that created that stupid design should have been fired, or maybe burned at the stake. The shop that repaired it sold the 4010 for us, young teen age son of a guy Dad knew bought it right out of the repair shop. The engine had been completely rebuilt, didn't burn ANY oil, didn't leak anything, think they put a new clutch in it too. And about 10 months the kid that bought it comes around looking for Dad, He either wants his money back or Dad to pay for the complete rebuild of the transmission. Not sure what went wrong with it but the M&W turbocharger the kid had the shop install probably had something to do with it. I can think of several green 3010,4010,3020,4020 tractors that have broke down. Too many busy Deere dealers with shops that have tractors lined up across the lots. The 1954 FARMALL SUPER M-TA we had was probably my favorite tractor, right behind my Super H. Dad had the low side of the TA go out one of the first springs we had it. The mechanic fixed it and explained to DAD how to keep it adjusted, never had another TA fail after that.

My nephew still has the 69 4020 my Dad and I bought in 1971, I turned it up and turbo charged it pulled a 5-18 bottom plow, and 12 row semi-mounted planter for many years! Took turbo off and used it for a loader tractor for many years.

Kinda got a laugh out of the first feature of the 4020 that was mentioned making it so popular was the ROPS then show one open station tractor after another! I don't think the ROPS had much to do with the 4020's popularity.

An enjoyable, if succinct view on each of the featured tractors. At the end, it would have been better to explain that whilst Ford ceased production of tractors at Dagenham, they carried on making tractors at the newly built Basildon factory. The newly minted 1000 series were produced here from 1964/65 and many generations thereafter. Your conclusion to this video is somewhat misleading inasmuch that it is made to seem that Ford stopped making tractors altogether.
