I am 74 years old. Been playing Div1 and D2 since it started. Looking at 20K level soon. Now! Go thru all the grinding over and over and over. I don't know? Maxed on expertise! Is there a future? I am already on chronic medication, after a tripple by-pass, just the thought of doing it again from scratch gives me a hollow feeling. So let's see, when this kicks in, how it will go.

Which is ironic because it's the vets who are keeping this game relevant. Most if not all of the new players are ones who wait for titles to go on deep discount just so they can dabble here & there, then it's off to the next game. I understand this behavior as I've engaged in it before (for some titles at least) but my point is this: those types of players don't keep games alive. They don't "pay the bills," so to speak. They're just a blip on a game's timeline. They're like chaff in the wind so appealing to them it's a very short-sighted "fix" for a problem that requires a more in-depth approach.

All the seasonal content is gonna do is drive away the vets, and attract a few new players that will have no one to play with or learn from leading to them moving on in a short time line. Seasonal style games only work when built from the start not near the end of any game life span. More raids/incursions/legendary missions/brand sets/gear sets with the new master difficulty in more than man hunt missions would have been epic. But instead Ubisoft chose's this path..... ugh.

Ubisoft doesn’t seem to understand the principle of it being cheaper to retain old customers than acquire new ones. They’ve neglected their game for too long so now instead of adding real end game content for the players who have stuck around, they’re trying to get new players in so they have a bigger audience to pitch division 3 to. I’m fucking sick of the vets in a grindy game being fucked by devs pandering to casual shooter players who don’t actually want to grind. They will never be the main player base. I’d still be considered a “new” player by many, but I was attracted to this game BECAUSE OF the grind. I’ve been playing a little over a year, 2.5k SHD, all exotics, 21 expertise, loads of descent blueprints, and countless loadouts I’ve spent hundreds of hours grinding for and optimising. I wanted a game with loads of content for me to come in and grind, I don’t want to be forced to restart over and over, that isn’t remotely rewarding or satisfying.

I get that it feels like a slap in the face, because it is one. Someone else might tell you that playing 6k hours in any game is a waste of time. But I would ask you. Did you have fun those 6k hours? I assume the answer is yes, so that time wasn't wasted. At some point, even if they didn't implement that change, they would shut down service for the game. You wouldn't consider whatever time you had sunk into the game at that point a waste of time then, because they shut down the servers and you can't play anymore, right? So this isn't any different. If this turns you off the game, it's essentially the same thing as them shutting the game down. You just didn't expect it to happen now. You will find something else to waste time on ;) We all will.

Players following Division 2 for many years, will not appreciate the new approach. YEARS invested into main character should not be taken lightly. World tier level is the current solution / segregation between player levels. So, being loyal and supporting this game for years, results in complete disregard for the these efforts! This is a BAD idea. In my case, support the game for 8 years, played: 2211 hours & 31 minutes. Now worth ... ??? END GAME for me, after 8 years and 2211 hours should reflect the time spent. Why should a new player, have the same experience, END GAME for investing 40 hours?

So this is basically, yup you need to start a new character and grind the campaign again to play seasonal content. Still 15 hours to grind the campaign even with accelerated levelling. No indication about what gameplay modifiers are supposed to make this interesting. You can’t use your agent to play the climax mission until after the season ends. So to do that, you need to create a new seasonal character and play the whole season first. Or it won’t be available to you. This is all the information I needed. I don’t want to create a new character every season and grind out the campaign from level 1. Nothing in this communication gave me any reason to think I might change my mind. I think it’s probably time for me to move on from TD2.

What is the point of having a main character if for each season we will have to create a new one. If for example the next 10 seasons we will get a new character per season, when will I be able to use my main one. 2 weeks per season? I think it's time for an uninstall of the game and completely move on. Basically for one year we will be able to use our main character for 6 weeks. 4200 hours in the game all that grinding to max out our gear and they just tell us that is useless now since with each new season you will have to create a new character. So create a new character, refarm again all the gear you farmed the previous years and by the time you farm the same gear again, you will have to create a new character and all the stuff you farmed will be transferred to your main character but you will only be able to use them for 2 weeks. They decided to kill the game once and for all. Great work from Nerfssive.

I understand the luring new players decision. What I dont understand is in doing do they just alienated the LONGtime faithful D1/D2 players that have not only persevered thru massive play time, countless bugs, revisions, etc, and championed the game to friends etc to build the community. Their devs don't bat 1.000 but they don't go out of their way to piss off the players and when they make fundamental balance changes, they at least compensate players with in-game resources and don't invalidate years of grind to attach a few new players. They've worked on the New Player Experience for years without screwing over folks with a decade of time on the game, all while growing their player base across now multiple platforms. At this point, I'll probably going to avoid anything Ubisoft releases. Outlaws looked interesting, but now: nope. Didn't care about Shadows so that's moot and screw D3.

Yikes! Just when I finally got to a point where I felt my skills at this game where good, they chop my legs off for using my main character for seasonal runs! Currently, the majority of the seasonal content I play solo. I may run something with my clan members, but i rarely run with someone outside my clan. So, im not sure why the Devs want, "The playing field level." I guess we will see how this ends up. I hope the PTS for those who get the chance to participate sheds more light that this will be a good change.

I stopped playing the game entirely bc so many veteran players had such a massive advantage in the game. I'm a husband and a dad and I don't have several hours a day to play the game. I considered coming back with this patch when I saw the season info. I get people being annoyed that their main isn't involved in this. But, to be fair it's not really for veteran players as much as returning/new players. It won't even really benefit veteran players unless they enjoy the experience of it. But, it will greatly benefit new players/bringing in more players to the community like myself who started to play and realized I'd need to spend thousands of hours to play catch up.

I had a 6880 watch level hardcore character until i got a MIKE 03 server error code which upon restarting the game my hardcore character was deleted and i was in a safe house when it happened, thanks devs!

I am having trouble understanding these comments. Many of us have used mules to gain resources via watch points. So let's not pretend "creating a character" is somehow a new concept. Many content creators have made videos on how to do it quickly, and how to get exotics and resources. Many have done the 10th floor XP farm to get high watch points to use for resources, used it to get to 10,000 SHD level as if they played that much content, or did it because there was nothing else to do in the game Let's not kid ourselves. Who plays all seasonal events, activities, requirements, or what have you? Time trials is one thing. Quickly passing a mission is one thing. It has nothing to do with disrupting black tusk or setting Rikers on fire and passing DC missions as fast as possible. I don't play SHD exposed or polarity switch. I don't toggle that "event". I wonder how many do. The Dev Team see these behavior and have changed things to "better" (only time will tell) the experience

Why not just do seasonal characters like diablo dose. You can still have your main but if you want to participate into the season you need to start a seasonal character. So of us have grinded years to get our mains to where they are.

If they wanted everyone to be on the same playing level, why did they even bother to add the expertise systems in the first place then? Surely they knew that there would be people out there that would go crazy with it and be ahead of newer players, thats just the nature of the beast.

The only reason to play is for the boosted XP while using your seasonal character for a very short period of time.

Thank you for the update, in my opinion being a day one player and putting up with all the terrible dev. B.S. with this game this is B.S. listening to the key words the Dev.'s are saying about this is the same B.S. they have said about all the other so called content in the past.
