Very thorough instructions. Indeed Bajiquan digs deep. A real showstopper.
Miyamoto Musashi talked about the use of shoulder strikes in his book of five rings, about how "it is even possible to strike an opponent with the shoulder so hard that he dies on the spot" and it was probably something like the shoulder strikes Bajiquan uses, in some instances it almost seems to be like the defender becomes like a tree and the attacker just impales themselves on the trees branches while the tree simply bends towards the attacker a bit in the wind.

It's spoken about in Tai Chi writings as well. Pretty vicious stuff.

We call it crashing rocks. We are the rocks and the opponent is the ship charging straight to us. We use his momentum forward to impale himself to us. But we need more than 5 years basic stance for that to optimize the damage.

For you gamers out there, you might feel familiar watching this fighting demo especially watching the elbow strike, because Bajiquan is actually the fighting style of Akira Yuki, the character from Virtua Fighter games, developed since 1993 by Sega (available in arcade, PS, Xbox).

Thank you for the memories, this character and game brings back great times
In my opinion you are a very good teacher. I have learned a lot from this video. "To achieve the greatest result, seek the quintessential" General Shi Jue, late president of the Tai Chi Chuan Society of the Republic of China
You really need to off balance your opponent first though as your spear elbow can telegraph and block your view from a counterattack.

Bajiquan is an incredible style that I have had the honour to train in. I’m wondering if this is Hakyokoken the Japanese version I may be wrong. It was a great demonstration and I learnt a lot from it 👍
@MansMan420692 ай бұрын
Hakkyokuken is the japanese reading of the same hanzi/kanji/characters 八極拳 八 bā/ha/eight 極 jí/kyoku/extremities 拳 quán/ken/fist
When trapping a large metal bar between the arms in ma bu the linear lines become apparent in a natural position that keeps the striking fist below the shoulder preventing the recoil from the elbow strike from bouncing and striking one's own face with the bird fist.This is natural as raising one's arm above the shoulder is useless, exposing dim mak point on the heart meridian.

the hand is left un-clenched, because the force of impact might well result in your hand being driven into your face. your hand is also place so that the line of impact is not in line with your head This calls for a lot more precision of movement than is at all likely to be feasible during a real fight. This is true of about 90% of Kung fu tiype strikes The followup grappling is great, IF you hurt the guy first with a strike and IF he has no buddies. or weapon that has eithe somewhatr longr range impact capability than a knife, or a cutting/stabbing potential it is MUCH safer to stay out of arm's reach and kick at his knees/shin/bladder. His testicles are hard to hit, folks, being between his thighs, which can close in a fraction of a second, The bladder is always there, IF you learn to kick OUT, not UP and a solid impact to the bladder is very disabling. However, kicking higher than the knee exposes your leg to being caugh/deflected by his arm or leg. Solidly land a kick to his knee or shin and his foot work will be destroyed, if he does not already have a grip on you, have a gun, or have buddies, you can then do whatever you want to him.
