I never had a quest 3, only ever played on the psvr for ps4, and the quest 2, so if i ever get a 3S i feel like i would still be amazed

quest 3 isnt as good as people claim, glare is worse than the q2, there is a film grain/sandy look to everything, cant play in low lit rooms, jams against your nose, dimming on edges of lenses due to the pancake design causing the fov to feel smaller than the q2, and many more reasons why i hate my quest 3, i wish i could return it

I don't have a lot of those problems with my current one, but the one I had before literally overheated itself to death, and that one did have some grain like you are saying. Sometimes, I wish I didn't get a 3 and just saved some $ with the 3s since they are both good imo.

as a new quest 3 owner, i wish i got the 3s.. i started vr on the htc vive in 2016 then got the quest 2 when it dropped, and now as of 3 days ago i have the quest 3 and im nothing but disappointed.. the edges of the lenses are WAY darker than the middle of the lens making the fov feel even smaller than the quest 2 and on top of that you can literally see the pixels on the q3 screen if you focus on it, almost looks like there is a see through image of sand/film grain overlaid on top of everything. and dont get me started on the glare... its like nobody at meta even playtested the quest 3, plus my nose jams up against the front of the headset on the q3 which was never an issue on the q2. i thought the quest 3 was going to be an upgrade but in my experience its a downgrade from the quest 2 except for computing power.

If you can, I would try to return it and just get the 3s. But if u can't, I would recommend trying to RMA it and get a new one. Who knows something might be wrong. But that sucks I'm sorry.

The only difference is that it is harder to find the sweetspot 🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀, you think you know anything about vr, yet don't realize that the type of lenses does not matter if you find the sweetspot, which is just easier on the flat pancake lenses.

@ilcarlino752 gonna be honest I can't understand what you are talking about. But I can assure you that the types of lenses do matter. However, the biggest difference I noticed from the two lenses was finding the sweet spot. (I was literally comparing them side by side.) While that was the biggest difference I noticed, the pancake lenses have other advantages, slimmer, fov is better, better clarity. The frensel lenses (Q3s) aren't really bad and do have downsides compared to pancakes, but I don't think they are deal breakers. But, that sweetspot problem is by far the biggest "issue" I have had. Comparing the two of them together, I feel the biggest difference people will notice (especially those who don't own a vr) is the sweet spot, but there is, of course more to the story.

One thing I complain about the quest 3S is the controller tracking

Honestly, I would say the 3s and 3 still have some controller issues. It's not "bad" but it they definitely have a hard time in very niche situations. The one I run into the most is when I play literally any game with a bow or a gun where I try to aim like I would in real life. The tracking spazams out after about 5 seconds.

@ilcarlino752 I think if you already own a ps5, a psvr2 isn't that bad. Last I saw, they were 350 usd in walmart. And it has oled panels and foveated rendering. If you only want to play a few VR games or use it for pcvr (you lose our on some features) it's not that bad. But if you had to pick one and had nothing prior, I would say Q3 is better. Don't know about solos, but the q3 definitely has an edge in most scenarios.
