Out of the whole party, Darkness is absolutely the one who is using the smallest amount of her potential. When Vanir controls her, she is absolutely overpowered in ways Megumin and Aqua, and even Wiz and Vanir can't match. She took on and held her ground against Sylvia better than anyone else.

I'm 10 months later, but I'm saying it anyways In the LN they specifiy Advanced magic requires around 40-42 pts to learn, Megumin got all those points from the adventures before. When she realized Kazuma had to die almost all the times they face a Leader, she felt really bad/useless(she actually gets a crush on him on this volume ). Those points made Explosion that strong after the upgrade. Now some extra data to understand how much 40-42 points are: The only way to graduate from Crimson demon's school is to learn Advanced magic(40 points), which takes around 13-14 years to gather for most of them. Megumin gathered those points at 12yo(she's actually a fucking genius between geniuses), but she kept it in secret because she wanted 52 points to learn Explosion. The movie doesn't have a loooooot of things from the Volume 5(which is where the movie is located). The part when silvya revives doesn't even exist lol, and they don't get teleported directly to the forest.

To answer your question about what Kazuma did to Megumin's explosion, he used the XP she got from the battle to boost it's power & possibly range as well. Megumin wanted Kazuma to use the xp to unlock the advanced magic skill so she wouldn't be a "joke" mage anymore but he cared about her enough to not do that. In the LN he has an inner monologue where he says that he already has the strongest mage. Also in the LN the fight ends with Komekko getting the kill steal.

It's like when you're falling in a dream and jolt yourself awake. U know when we play rpg and level up, we got a few skill points to spend on. At the end, Megumin requested kazuma to help her spend her stored skill points to unlock and increase other advance skill, but instead kazuma help her to add all the skill point on her explosions.

So Kazuma just used her Skill Points to Power Up her Explosion Magic, instead of "Advanced Magic".

I love this movie, watched it five times in five days when it hit CR. Even though so much of the book wasn't in there (most notably the campfire talk and the third night), I still love it. Even if the hope is now faint, I desperately want the anime to continue. @Kimchi & Tofu At the near end Megumin asked for Kazuma to allocate some skill points into some new magic so that she could be useful. Kazuma decided to allocate all the points into improving her Explosion magic instead of giving her new magic to use.

one joke the movie didn't show was the reasoning behind the attack on the crimson village: so apparently the crimson villagers made a telescope to look at the demon kings daughter when she is changing lol and they made it into one of there many tourist spots, and yeah that's the main reason

You know when movies feel like giant fillers and really don't matter at all to the story... well this felt more like an actual episode right from the show, it just worked. It was so good and such a refreshing thing to watch. Got to say my favourite part was meeting Megumin's family. Her little sister was so cute!

When it comes to why Kazuma can be revived - It's because of Aqua's revival magic (as long as there is a part of someone's body, person can be revived). The problem is, this magic is supposed to work only once per revived person, but since Aqua is higher in hierarchy than Eris (and because she knows her secret), she can do it even if it's against the rules.
