EVO magazine started in 1998. In 2010, EVO named the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 their car of the year. EVO magazine had a special edition in October, 2014 for their 200th issue. They picked 20 cars over their 16 years of publication to represent the best of what EVO stands for, including CGT, GT2, LFA… Numerous journalist spent days, driving many miles in these cars…. In the end they picked the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 as THE car, the best among the best of the prior 16 years. Chris Harris is a motorsports journalist and an incredible driver. God damn, I had a day in one of these, slinging it around the back roads, hearing the engine hit redline before stomping on the heavy clutch and finessing the gear one ratio higher is a memory I will NEVER forget. Need to get one of these onto my channel ASAP. Great video!

The 991 GT3 RS had a 4.0 liter not a 3,6. The regular GT3 of the 991.1 had a 3,8. The last 3,6 was the 997.1 GT3/RS

Peak Porsche. The RS is almost a pure track car (RIP Sabine), whereas the GT3 is more suitable for road and track. Both are super raw. A world away from the approachable, VW owned 991s and supersized GT 992s. The 997.2 GT cars were the last of the true, great Porsches. As we transition to electric, there's an argument for these being the best ICE sports cars ever. A bargain considering the price of modern kit.

In the UK, there are also 2 997 RS 4.0 - one (over 16000 miles) under £300k and other (over 9000 miles) under £350k for sale on auto trader. The two cars in the US, one priced at $899k has only 938 miles and other one with no price has only 195 miles, guessing the price for this one will be around $1M.

He can drive a manual properly, but "launching" and "driving" are two different things or rather launching is a specific subset of driving. Also, launching a manual hard requires being quite unsympathetic to the drivetrain, so its really hard to get a good launch if you are worried about hurting someone else's car (or having to pay for your own clutch job for that matter).

@@alangil40 I used to have one of these - and that GT3 isn’t even his car!! It’s a press car so therefore he shouldn’t be being sympathetic to the drivetrain! That GT3 is a lot faster than that. These chaps drive the auto box cars predominantly as they’re faster but therefore they aren’t practised when it comes to driving a manual vehicle and IMO it often shows. Unless of course you’re someone like Chris Harris who is a skilled driver and ace at rev matching or a standing start off the line etc etc.

I think the Car Vertical thing is a bit misleading if I'm honest. Sure, the photos might be useful if a car has been written off before so that you can see the extent of the damage and make your own assessment as to whether you feel the repair would be safe however, if the vehicle was repaired by an approved manufacturer bodyshop and not written off, then it will have been repaired to manufacturer standard and any photos should be irrelevant.
