I shoot photos and video at high ISO’s on the a1 all the time and it’s never noisy unless I’m underexposing the shot and drifting too far from native ISO’s. But that can happen with any camera. What are your settings? What picture profiles are you using? Are you sticking to native ISO’s or are you drifting around different ISO’s?

100% this. Couldn't have said it any better myself. Native iso is big, underexposed shots number 2. I shoot on an r4 as well and the noise is awful but as a professional this comes with the territory. Super low light I'll use my fx3 for stills but I know that comes with a trade off of stills being 12mp

Just starting to play with Native ISOs for different picture profiles. I appreciate ass the feedback, y’all got me learning a lot😂

I laughed when you talked about the old heads. It’s very true. The camera has become a favorite upon bird watchers. As far as the low light issues you’re having. It’s best to stick to the native ISO… 4000 ISO is actually pretty good and you can overexpose a stop or 2. 4000 ISO is the second native ISO.
@danieIlondon2 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? 500 is the second native ISO.

@@danieIlondon sorry I should have clarified ...I was speaking for video specifically (slog-3 800 ISO and 4000 ISO)

@@DominicCarterTV ah ok. Well I don’t think it’s 4000 anyway, still pretty grainy at 4000, unless you’re shooting super super low light, I’d still stick to 800.
@DominicCarterTV2 жыл бұрын
@@danieIlondon I've used 4000 quite often and it works well for low light. I shoot a lot of nightlife, concert stuff. For photos I typically start around 2000 to raise the background in nightlife and utilize the rest of the power with my flash

@@DominicCarterTV ah cool! When shooting raw I just stick to 500, it’s more or less pulling up the shadows in Lightroom but sometimes the grain is less noticeable than the in-camera grain. I think ISO invariance they call it. I miss the A7iv I sold, was great in low light but lower resolution

Curious you get a grainy photo in low light. If you switch to 30 mega pixels for your indoor shoots does this help?? The 50 mega pixels is an advantage if you need to do heavy cropping, particularly with wildlife

I hate the grain which comes out of A1 when i shoot photos. I think we can blame that with high megapixel. The grain is so bad even around 800 ISO. I usually go max 640 when i shoot photos even in low light. But, surprisingly the low light is amazing in video with no noise upto dual 4000 native and I don't know how Sony did that. If im taking photos in dark situations - i film in 8k at 4000 iso and get frames shots from premier pro from clips. I agree with you on grain other than that this camera is a beast. I almost returned it for that one complain. Oh the "colors" i think it has the best colors in the Sony line up and i see huge difference in color compared Sony fx3 with the same slog3 settings & white balance. Overall in my opinion -this camera is not good for photos in low light without flash, everything else GUCCI!!!

as another A1 owner. I think you summed it up well.

In 2004 canon's 1Ds mark 2 cost $8000 with only 16.7 MP. So, comparatively, the A1 is a steal.

Someone should create content just for dealing with this grain 🤦🏿♂️. It’s very discouraging. And you’re the first person I’ve heard speak openly about the grain - which is sad. I don’t even think Garald Undone mentioned it. I was ripping this bad boy out the box on the way home tryna snap a few shots. Almost crashed the Scat lol. First I couldn’t even get the knobs to turn 🤦🏿♂️. Didn’t know about pushing the buttons down while simultaneously twisting the knobs (almost panicked). Took a few pictures on auto and couldn’t believe the noise - in broad daylight at that! Was in complete denial at first. Even hide it from my ol lady lol. Was too ashamed 🥺 to show her the noise that came with that price tag, my g 🫣 😂😂😂😂. But I’m learning how to deal with it. The tip about pulling stills from 8k footage seems promising, but BS considering how much brothers paid for it. 🤔 I notice mostly brothers and old white men have this camera 🤷🏿♂️🤭

I'm saying!!! I haven't seen any videos about the noise either. Sucks, but other than that, it's a great camera. Glad you found a way to deal with the grain.
