First time I saw this was in a mall arcade like in a large projection screen, as if it was the center piece of the establishment. I was wondering back then, what were they thinking. I mean nobody in their right mind would touch this shitty game based on a shitty movie. That would be a really embarassing thing to do. Yeah even back then we thought the entire thing was a disgusting Hollywood appropriated garbage. After so many years, I tried playing it on some phone emulator. I could probably say it wasn't that really bad like the first time I thought it would be. It's not great by any means, just a fighting game that I could probably enjoy when I was a kid (as compare to playing a lot of other shitty games, like mortal kombat in gameboy)

That 'Akuma' is a real life hi-profile martial artist and stunt coordinator, Ernie Reyes Sr. I think its another way of them copying MK by employing a recognizable face in the martial arts circle that's not a Hollywood biggie (the first MK trilogy had Ho Sung Pak and the Pesina siblings Carlos and Daniel).

This is one of those games 'serious' gamers would never admit is fun. I think it's a great blend of comedy and fun. Some of the combos are actually pretty sick. There are many flaws but the game was never meant to be serious in the first place. So, I just love it for its uniqueness.

Sequel plans were made, but nothing ever materialized and instead we got the ACTUAL failure SF movie Legend of Chun-Li. Could have been the fact that Bison was meant to come back, but his actor Raul Julia died not too long after his performance.

I only found out this existed a couple of years ago. I remember renting SF The Movie on my PS1 back in the 90's and it was garbage, but playable. I always assumed the arcade version was the same but evidently not. I heard that Capcom hated this pile of sh*t so much that they re-constituted the character frames to make it feel and handle closer to Super Turbo. That was the home versions we got.
