That Walking Dead 1 is my grail comic! So awesome- curious if the seller knew his values as just what you have shown in this video are worth thousands of dollars. Amazing find and so excited for you!
@CoMoComicBooks Жыл бұрын
He definitely did. He watches a lot of comic content and had been collecting for 25-30 years. He went through and calculated what he wanted out of the collection and that’s what he received. I think we were both happy with the deal. I was more nervous about it than he was since I was the one trading dollars for comics in this market, but I think it will work out just fine.

That’s a thing. Collectors are definitely more likely to pay more than dealers. A 25% drop off of retail is a good deal for a collector, but on a bulk collection as a dealer 25% isn’t going to cut it.

People that are trying to unload thousands of raw books in a single sale are going to be in for a shock. The people willing to take 99% of those lots that are essentially worthless are really going to aim for keys in super high grade. A dealer will offer you a penny on the dollar if you’re lucky and there aren’t the people out there doing runs anymore.
@CoMoComicBooks Жыл бұрын
Wholesale pricing is definitely a real thing. There are definitely still some run builders out there, though they aren’t as plentiful as they once were.
@davidsamuelson2089 Жыл бұрын
@@CoMoComicBooks I used to go through raw book larger collections people said they only wanted to sell only as a group, and more often than not the collections would have runs up until the valuable books and those were always gone. Ex. Bronze & up ASM runs missing 238, 298 thru 312, 361, etc. as soon as I saw that pattern, I politely told them I’m not interested as you know they were already cherry picked. If they had a decent book it was usually beat.

I don’t know why kids today don’t read that many comic books?
@CoMoComicBooks Жыл бұрын
The end of newsstand distribution, or the extreme diminishing of it, is a leading factor. So many kids grow up without having the organic exposure to comics like we did when we were kids. Every grocery store and a good number of convenience stores had spinner racks or a comics section on the magazine stand for comics. If you’re not in a town that’s big enough to support a LCS today, or don’t have parents that are willing to take you to the LCS, you’re never going to have the necessary exposure to get into comics at a young age.

17,000 all post silver age books.... That would be a hard pass from me. Just not a fan of so much of the newer stuff, it sits on shelves forever and has to be marked down to nothing in comic book shops to sell for a reason. I'd gladly buy the selection of rare and valuable comics but I would have to leave all the rest. Some great finds in there though, especially the slabbed E&L TMNT, quite jealous of those.
