Lily that's my hometown 🤩. Trust me most of those houses u see are built purposely for Easter or holiday visits. You'll only find caretakers in them. The actual owners live elsewhere mostly in the city. They go back to Kwahu during Easter, vacations or funerals😀. They are very hardworking so when they make money they return to their homevillage to put up these beautiful structures. Kwahu people don't brag about their wealth. Travel to their village and see things for yourself. I love my people 🥰❤️❤️

The people from kwahu are mainly traders hard working ( entrepreneurs) who leave their town into the big cities to trade or work !! They are patriotic to their town and always return regular back home during occasions ..most rich & big firms you see in Accra or most cities belongs mostly to the people of kwawu 😀

OMG! So the first town is called Obomeng (it's my hometown) The house at 0:15 (white 2-story), the one at 0:33 (peach 3-story), and the one at 1:06 (light blue/dark blue w/traces of white and turquoise), belongs to my family. The Kwahu people are business people who's work are mostly in trading. ...and yes, the Kwahu's are known to be some of the richest group of people in Ghana.

Lily, I am a Kwahu, an Akyem and an Ashanti man. In Kwahu, I am from Mpraeso, the name you are struggling to mention. We Kwahu people living outside Kwahu, only go there for Easter Celebrations. And because of how well we celebrate Easter, it has become so attractive to Ghanaians that everyone in Ghana aside the Kwahu people wants to celebrate Easter there. Because of this, all Hotels are booked four months before Easter. During the Easter occasion, everything becomes expensive and as such whenever a Kwahu man is going for Easter, he saves for one year. Lily, you need go to Kwahu for Easter for this year and you will be amazed how an empty there can be overcrowded because of Easter. Lily, please don’t miss this Easter. Just go there on Easter day and come back. You will have a different story to share with us. One thing I want you to know is that Kwahu is the highest habitable place in Ghana. By this I mean on the the highest mountains in Ghana where people live, Kwahu Abetifi is the highest habitable place in Ghana. Amazingly I was born in Abetifi in Kwahu. The reason you see a lot beautiful houses but most are not occupied is because most of them are doing business outside and only come back for Easter. Infact every Easter every house is occupied and it will be very hard to see empty houses as you saw. Infact Lily, I can proudly say you are a Ghanaian for traveling outside of Accra to our Rural areas. This is because many foreigners don’t like traveling to our rural areas. They are always living in Accra. Lily, God richly bless You.

Lily, Kwahu people are the only tribe in Ghana that do not depend on government for their development. This is because every Easter, Kwahus living in all parts of the world come home for Easter and make Fundraising to develop their various towns in Kwahu. And this is part of how they spend the Easter. If all tribes in Ghana were like Kwahus, then the government of Ghana would have saved a lot to invest in other areas of the economy.

Lily, watch this documentary and you will get a rough idea of who we the Kwahus are. By the way, Obo is not a village but one of the conglomerates of the 33 towns that form the Kwahu District. They have the Yorubas' tendency toward business. Previously we were part of the Ashanti Kingdom but due to frequent wars which were too much for us, cause our forefathers broke away and settled on top of Odwoanoma Mountain, for the sake of peace, reaching across certain areas of the Volta Lake area. Most of the houses are empty because they are involved with their businesses in the Cities and Regional centers and come back to their various towns for weekend refreshing and festivals. You are doing good work. Keep it up.

There definitely are a lot of poor people in Obo, Kwaku. The poor live there year round. The rich who own all the beautiful homes you see only visit occasionally, they live in Accra other big cities in Ghana, and abroad. One other point I will make is that Obo couldbe clean and normally there aren’t much mosquitos in the mountains in Ghana. However, to see the cleanest villages in the world, you need to go to Switzerland. In my humble opinion Obo, Kwaku will not be named the most clean village in the world. But each one and their own opinion. Travel more worldwide and you will see.

@@kofisam4106 Did you bother to check the definition of "village" before confidently writing what you did? Now tell me: which village in Ghana has a secondary school? What you probably are unaware of is that people from all the Kwahu communities associate themselves with or also come from other smaller communities which they refer to as their "villages". Some towns are smaller than others. Doesn't mean those smaller towns are villages. Now tell me: does a typical village have pipe borne water, electricity, secondary schools, tarred roads, modern hotels, police stations, etc?

@@ernestagyepong1926 hahaha! Masa you’re a functional illiterate! A village is a small settlement usually found in a rural setting. It is generally larger than a "hamlet" but smaller than a "town." Some geographers specifically define a village as having between 500 and 5,500 inhabitants. It doesn’t matter how developed a place is, if the population of the place is small, then it’s a village!... sunyani is more developed and beautiful than tamale, however tamale is a metropolitan city, and sunyani is municipal town. Do you know why? Because tamale has more population! So having all the amenities wouldn’t upgrade a place to a town or a city.... villages in Europe have all amenities yet they still considered as villages, and for your information, calling a place a village doesn’t mean the place is undeveloped!

Many of the houses are vacation homes, or the owners reside out of town, and visit ocassionally. My mother only go to Kwahu for funerals and on Easter. She has a custodian who lives in guest quarter.

It’s a village!... village is determined by the population of people living in the area... tamale is not that developed, however it the third biggest city in Ghana! Which means a village can be developed than a town, the only difference is the population!

The dirty open gutters in Accra is the reason for the mosquitoes.

It is part of the problem. But mosquitoes don't thrive in cooler and high altitudes. Same with Akuapem, Volta and other cooler and higher areas. You seldom find mosquitoes in in sub tropical America in fall, winter and summer.
