30 years ago , I was a high school teacher and my salary was 505 birr a month. I immigrated to USA in 1995 (30 years ago) and never go back. I am surprised to see that , a lunch costs 1800 birr. That country is changed a lot . I don’t know what will happen to me if I visite my country in the future.

1800 birr is still extremely expensive for a meal since the average Ethiopian earns anywhere between 5000 to 8000 birr per month..and rent is minimum 9000 birr.

Bro, you are a smart guy; you do travel a lot in different countries. Please do inform yourself well before you order anything. Use Google or get to know someone locally who can show you around as a friend. This would be very much easier for you. There are many guys who would love to go around with you, but usually they do not have money. In this case you pay for food and a ride. Which still remain cheap. This way you will enjoy your time in the country. Look, now you've ordered food, and you didn't even really enjoy it, while in Ethiopia you have so many different food sorts. You really did have to eat dry injera alone. There are many different sauces you could have chosen from.

The construction you see outside the shops is because the government has ordered all buildings build by the roadside must have large glass windows and doors as part of the beautification of the city. Kenyan watching from London, UK. I love what I am seeing in Addis Ababa.

We don’t have Uber in Ethiopia or any other foreign ride sharing companies . However we do have 24 local options. The 2 biggest ones are RIDE and FERES.

are you in Gaza? looks like a war zone out there. light train is one huge obstacle. How do you cross the street? There should have been a pediastran bridge or two to cross the street. The light train should've been underground.

General rules food should be hot not cold. If its a stew or sauce and its red its spicy yellow mild to no spice. The dips are always spicy. Also how you african and cant handle spicy 😂😂

Our dear brother ❤ we know the culture shocks U might encounter in Ethiopia .But pls don't drag more negative enegry to urself by feeling discomfort instead expose Ur self to a better turistic areas ...Like Freindship park at night ,Unity Park ,Entoto park,Haileselase's new palace , 2000 habesha traditional restuarants ,Marcus addis restuarant (modern),london cafe and kurifto resort &spa(bishoftu). use simple english words so many undertand U most ethiopians are really lovely & freindly but on streets there're a lot of crafty scammers even tough for locals rly becareful.ethiopian ubers are RIDE and FERES which have meter taxi. @@cocoaberaham627 What do you mean?? Our Education curriculum is in English. We studied English from grade 1 all the way through college. There is no excuse for our inability to speak English; we are simply not proficient. The waiters that work in such a high-end restaurant should be able to communicate well in English. It should be mandatory upon hiring. The place is visited by hundreds of foreigners every day, and the waiters can't even communicate using simple English? They can't even describe what they're serving? How is that acceptable? I bet you one of the requirements for their hiring is a "grade 10 or 12 certificate." How can a person with a 10th or 12th-grade certificate not know how to communicate using English? How have they been studying their subjects? There should simply be no excuse; we are simply dumb.
