Kgalagadi Photography - Know the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park Full Hour Documentary - 1 “The Auob river bed" EDUCATIONAL.
This 1h15min educational Film/Documentary Joe Produced in 2006 is an overview of the ecological workings of the Auob River in the Kgalagadi
The Auob river (dry) bed and the Nossob river (dry) beds are the two ancient river systems that run through the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and it is where 80% plus of all the predator/prey action occurs. The only two major roads follow these river beds for exactly that reason. From Lion, Leopard and Cheetah kills to Cobras hunting rodents. Nowhere else can predator prey interaction be so openly observed. That's why I call it a wild river. The very old Camelthorn trees along the river bed of the Auob creates the micro habitat that jump starts almost the whole cycle. Humans would barely survive a few kilometers if left to walk down the river bed.
This film is the first that explains the ecological workings of this ecosystem through the three seasons on a macro level and introduce some of its plants and animals. This first of the series was intended to be an Informative documentary for the lovers or visitors of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and not a traditional wildlife film.

This is the most accurate documentary I have seen. I managed a farm bout 80 miles from this area Stampriet was the closest village. The names of the animals and plants is how I know them, feels like I'm sitting in the shade of a kameeldoring boom again smelling the rain. Ai living in Scotland now but the big BBC s and Nat Geo doesn't get it but you Joe, you do. Thank you so much for making me home sick in such a ordinary way

I've heard of Kruger National Park before, of course - known about it for many years. But I've never heard of Kgalagadi before until the last few days. Looking at various maps of Africa and South Africa with respect to population, geography, topography, etc, I can understand why Kruger is so much better-known - because it's in much closer proximity to very populous human urban centers (the huge cities of Johannesburg and Praetoria). Kgalagadi is much more remote with respect to populous areas of human settlement. I can't imagine Kruger being much better than what I see in this video of Kgalagadi, which should be much more famous than it is. Just WOW!

That was exactly the year I started visiting the Kalahari gemsbok side of the park. If we could only have those days back when there was great cooperation between Wildlife and Parks SA. Today wildlife department is absent from cooperation especially when it comes to returning escaped lions from the farms in Botswana side. If only I could get someone high up to give some attention to the problem

@@JoesCamera Wow, that' a sad turn of events. I was 18 at the time and we patrolled entire park every so often. I had a great time. Lions did get to nearby farms once or twice that year, but largely stayed in the park. Don't give up. Keep up the good work.

Quite America aye. Sees something good and instantly wants to Murica it. On a light note, people who imprison wild animals as pets ought to be crimpled or non-fatally shot to humble the entitlement that makes them think wild animals would be better off in their care
