We have just arrived in Bangalore a few days ago and I thought it would be necessary to right away try to eat most of the things. Not everything, do not worry, but let´s start with breakfast- not quite the most important meal of the day but what the heck. Bangalore also has lots of good foods in its resume. Of course just having come from Hyderabad it is going to be a difficult thing, but let´s see if it can match the food from there.

I remember staying in Maruti Nagar area. There was an Udupi hotel. Clean and hygienic. Lunch thali which included 4 pooris, rice, 2 veggies, curd, sambhar, papad for just Rs 70. And breakfast combo which included masala dosa, idli wada, upma and tea for Rs. 100. Happy to see u settled-down in Banglore

Best Masala Dosas in Bengaluru are in Vidyarthi Bhavan, CTR Malleshwaram, Cool Corner VV Puram etc. For nice Andhra Style food you can try Nagarjuna (Andhra Meals/ Biryani) or Meghana's (Biryani). If possible, try to walk around the streets of Jayanagara which will give you a true essence of Bengaluru. And for dessert, you can go to the most famous one which is Corner House (death by chocolate aka DBC). The best park in Bengaluru for walking around in the mornings is Cubbon Park. Roaming around MG Road, Brigade Road will give you a feel of the Central areas plus the bustling commerce. Finally, if you would like to explore some pubs you can go to Indiranagar ( Toit has nice beer) and Koramangala area. Best of luck in your travels !

These places like Marathahalli and whitefields were rampantly developed by builder mafias after Tech boom of 2000. Before 1999 these places were not even considered Part of Bangalore and not a place for real South Indian food. To enjoy real south breakfast you need to go to old city like Jaynagar and Malleshwaram.

I'm sure you'd have been recommended it already, but please make it a point to visit Vidyarthi Bhavan, in Basavanagudi (South Bangalore). I'm from Mumbai (which itself has a lot of good authentic South Indian restaurants) and been to a lot of popular South Indian eateries/restaurants in Udupi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad, but Vidyarthi Bhavan serves the best masala dosas I've had.

Today is Ugadi... it is new year celebrated in Andhra, Karnataka and Telangana... We prepare Ugadi pachadi with raw mango(sour), babana(sweet),bellam dates , salt, neem flower ( medicinal ..bitter), chili... All these are made into a mixture and served signifying all the tastes of life... It signifies that one should take happiness , sadness, pain, anger, challeges, love everything as same...

The Thick “Dosa” is called Uttappa or Uttappam. I also visited Bengaluru in Feb. Go to JayNagar. Delicious food there. Also if possible try and connect with a very well know Belgaluru personality called Kripal Amanna. He has his channel too. Called Foodlovers TV. He visits all sorts of eateries and vlogs them. I really enjoy his videos too in addition to yours Mr. Moonshine.

Today is a very auspicious day(ugadi).Speciality is,apart from food, after the pooja(worship),everyone in the house will take little bit of BEVU BELLA (paste of neem leaves and jaggery)....there will be chitranna made of Mango and Holige (say parota of jaggery and copra powder)...have it..visit HALLIMANE in malleswaram to have traditional meal(10-12 km)

The default is excess oil in the dosa. You can always instruct for less oil. Wherever you find "kal dosa" on the menu, it is going to be with no oil - it's close to home cooking

Well, oil is very good for you so I would never say less oil. It is a common missconception that oil is bad for you. It depends of course on the oil but I think they use coconut oil which is the healthiest in the world next to olive oil

Coconut oil is the default in Kerala where there's absolutely no problem eating fried foods out in any restaurants or street side. But hotels in Bangalore would be using refined oils - not healthy. And the quantity is not in the moderation that's exercised in traditional home cooking. Also, there's the option to order ghee or butter dosas which is reasonably good for you - again, you don't expect the restaurant to use organic desi A2 ghee, so the devil is always in the destructiveness of the modern development paradigm.....

The area you are staying in is not a proper residential area. it's messed up with traffic, and I can see it's difficult to find a good hotel. Marathahalli is only for work, good for bachelors and migrants from different parts of India, but it's not authentic Bengaluru. If you want to feel Bengaluru, travel to Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Malleswaram, Basavanagudi localities

What you are showing as the best condominiums in Bengaluru are just a bunch of low rise flats with no amenities. If you want to see the condominiums, there are at least 100 high rise apts complexes spread across Bengaluru where the avg size of the complexes are at least 500 families ,rising unto 35 to 40 floors ,having all sorts of amenities... pls visit those ,or try to rent it out there ..
