Just beware, this kind of setup will never replace upping your personal skills as a player or singer. Practice; get lessons, if need be. One cannot be careless with musical delivery at this level--but the results will be satisfying. Thanks for the video. It's very informative at so many levels. 👏

Great video! The “studio musician” category is super interesting to me and i think more applicable than ever to worship leaders. I think modern worship leaders often need to (or desire to) get quick acoustic/vocal demos out to their teams that are listenable and hopefully enjoyable, but even that can be hard without some studio experience/knowledge. I’d love to see you guys cover that. Here’s the gear we’d use, here’s what the signal chain looks like, here are the problems you’re going to face and here’s how we’d solve them, etc.

Yeah I really think it's a big need/desire for church leaders/musicians. That would be fun to cover - you can do it at all different price points, and as long as you know a bit about how to record and produce audio, you can get great results. While it's not something we make content about a lot at WT, it's definitely something we do almost on a daily/weekly basis.

Agreed. I do it on the cheap with a no-name Amazon microphone, entry level Focusrite interface, and GarageBand. I can get demo acoustic, vocals, and even electric parts from my HX Stomp tracked easily in no time, then get an mp3 out to my team in a single session. But it took me way too long to figure it all out on my own without a good teacher.

Fantastic video. I am thinking of buying this mic, I love to hear your personal opinion on my story so I can make the best decision. I am an professional opera singer and do my recordings at home. I have a apollo x4 and most of the UAD pre amp emulations and other good plug ins for vocals and mixing. I bought the Charteroak SA538 I think 20 years ago, it is that old, however, I didn't use it on a daily basis. The challenges I run into using this mic is that my voice sounds diminished, like it is locked up in a box and the power of the voice and also the clarity is not there - it sound completely different from what my real voice is. That means if I want to bring power in and clarity I have to do tons of processing to get the sound a little better, it is kinda frustrating for a 1700 euro mic. I made a vocal booth using professional materials hoping the sound would improve by getting rid of my living room over-acoustic frequencies. No difference on the power of the voice. There the vocal booth is closed with the professional blankets I get even more muddy sound. I recorded close by 3 inches, and 6 inches, 12 inches to see if it is because the mic cannot handle the operatic sound - the farther I stand away the thinner the sound becomes....I have no idea if it is the type mic I bought, or, that 20 years made it warn out although it always diminished my vocals. The DLX, do you think in your opinion and experience with the mic that it would be the solution for me and finally get my voice recorded as it is, or, do you think that the mic without any processing and even without the UAD different mic options, that it would capture my voice a lot better than what I described about the charteroak studio microphone! Mostly opera singers are recorded with 2 mics to get that wider kinda stereo field sound as you hear on classical albums, or Pavarotti's recordings. The DLX plug in does have a stereo option to record with and I wonder if that would mimic the way opera singers are recorded. What do you think? You can hear the vocals sound FREE and not boxed in and weak - I think you know what I mean...I think they probably not do a whole lot of wild processing on opera voices beside maybe some compression and reverb if it is not recorded in a hall - Hope you can shine some light into my recording world 🙂and looking forward for a positive reply hopefully that the DLX will make a big difference for my recordings...Thanks in advance...

Hi, I can't seem to work this out; If you record the audio in monitor mode (which commits nothing and leaves you able to alter the mics later) if you then decide to commit by changing to record mode, how does it commit this? It doesn't alter the original recording, as that's already done. Does it alter the mics by you opening the plug in then it assigns your new choice of mic, and you can bounce it all down with the modifications? Does this make sense?
@worshiptutorials
@worshiptutorials 5 ай бұрын
It just records the raw stereo signal of the mic. The processing that UA does is available in a plugin, which you can either use in Console and commit it to the recording, or you can recall it in whatever DAW you use and set it up there after you record 👍🏻

How do you do when you need to record 2 mono guitars with the DLX? (in order to pan them). The problem I have had is that those recordings are always stereo!

How does that compare to something like a Telefunken from the TF series? (Like the TF51). I have the Telefunken TF51 and TF47. Those are awesome mics, but slightly more expensive than the UA Sphere DLX (and twice as much as an LX). I haven't had time yet to compare them head to head, but I have a feeling the Sphere will sound just about as good, plus give me a lot more options. So they're a bit expensive, but actually quite a bit cheaper than a lot of microphones that may or may not sound better.

@@worshiptutorials oh without doubt the UA Sphere will be the better bang for buck, probably compared to most mics in that price range (especially when you factor in the plugins). Just a bummer that anything of that quality is so expensive here!
