Just wanted to give a perspective from a American. In my home state of Michigan they are ripping paved roads apart to put in dirt roads because they are cheaper to maintain. Peoples average wages haven't increased in almost 20 years. Every year there are more homeless people, drug addiction suicide and depression is everywhere. People work long hours with non union jobs with little pay, almost no rights and no healthcare. Now thousands are dying from Covid-19 and don't have health insurance to pay the medical bills. The USA is becoming a failed state, meanwhile China is producing miracles, improving every single year. I hope one day we can learn from China.

Responsible for the deaths of millions around the world, and now the collapse and suffering of our own people as well. Some people like to think of this as justice or Karma that finally America is getting what it deserves for all the bad it has done, but I must remind people too, many many American people are not responsible for the sins of our government. Many American people work hard every day and just want a better life and to take care of their families.

To be honest, a lot more Chinese don’t know their country well. More often than not we hear of stuff happening in Beijing, Hong Kong, maybe a little Xinjiang, Hebei, Guangdong, Heilongjiang... big places and popular places. Guizhou doesn’t appear on the news much and it’s no surprise it’s even less popular in Europe. So, it’s understandable that you didn’t previously know about the beauty of Guizhou. I also didn’t previously know either, but oh well, we all learn new things everyday don’t we? I love discovering more about my country and I’m constantly awed and impressed and fascinated :D

From what I gathered, the scenic part of this video is shot from the perspective of a wandering local resident rather than an outside (as outside of XingYi city) tourist, such that the footage did not cover the more famous hotspots that would pop up instantly from an internet search. Dear Jason, I have been watching your videos in the last few months and each time I do I am left feeling happy and proud. I completely get and appreciate your humour and quirks. Feeling that it is high time I visited my ancestor's home in Guilin (Guangxi Province) for the first time in my life. Both my grandfathers made their way on foot down south towards Vietnam, Saigon in the 1940s. Survived the Vietnam war with their respective families having lost everything they had built. My father's family made it to the UK having been rescued by a British cargo vessel in the South China seas and were given safe haven and passage to England in 1979 as "refugee boat people." I was 4 years old at the time. In 2017 I finally returned to Vietnam to revisit my birth place. Now it is time for me to visit my grandparents birth place. There is a documentary film in my story but it is still only embryonic. Mine is a "banana" perspective for now as I have yet to fully understand the Chinese side of me. Despite the poor civid19 situation in the UK, I am excited for the future, my future, and being able to travel to China at last. @@julesverne2010 FYI Guizhou & Guangdong are 2 different provinces. The capital city of Guizhou province is Guiyang, & the capital city of Guangdong province is Guangzhou. Guangdong is one of the richest provinces in China (maybe the richest). On the other hand Guizhou is a very mountainous & hilly province, so naturally it has very few large cities compared to the other provinces, even the capital city is not a tier 1 city. Hence it's one of the poorest provinces (maybe the poorest) in China. However, because Guizhou is relatively undeveloped compared to the other provinces, it has many stunning natural scenery. In addition, it has many stunning infrastructures as well. If you happened to start your China exploration from Northern Chinese rurual areas, you will probably see a slightly bleaker situation, but even more lively and humorous people. I am from the South, Guangzhou actually, but I think what I said can represent the impression of all Chinese. Northeastern China and South Western China both needs more rediscovery by the world.
