I’ve an Auto Polynesian Green. Just shy of 200k on the clock. Had it since 2000. It was our wedding car, it drove our new born son home from the hospital, and hit the NT roads back in the day when it was open speed limits in 2005. Cruised on 160 easy. You hit most things correct. Another tidbit was the higher redline. The Sprints hit an extra 500rpm than the regular ED XR8’s. Whilst mine is retired for now needing a bit of love, I’ll never part with it.

My teenage dream car! I was in year 8 in 1994 and walking to and from school I would walk past a house that had a Cobalt Blue manual bought brand new everyday. I’m a ‘Ford Guy’ so I knew exactly what it was back then and definitely coveted it! Sadly it didn’t seem as loved or appreciated as much as I thought it should be…it lived outside…was not washed or cared for…had a minor fender bender that was never repaired and over the next four years I watched it deteriorate as I walked to and from school…😢 By the time I got my licence and had saved hopefully enough money to buy ‘an old Falcon…’ it was gone… I would definitely park one of these in my shed!!! Great review Johnno…thanks! Mick.

@ they are more than , they are history. Howard Marsden and his small team transformed the humble GLi falcon into an absolute weapon ( for its day). In 93 I was 22 and went into debt ($32,000) to buy a brand new ED XR6 manual in lemans red( I still have this car ). I loved them so much I then started a collection, ED XR6 Auto, ED XR8 manual, ED XR8 Auto , ED XR6 wagon, 2 Sprints (one auto ,one manual), and the XG XR6 Ute, all in Lemans Red . None go one the road now , I spent 2 years rebuilding the wagon from bumper to bumper to have a drunk driver rear end her. It took 3 months fighting with the insurance company to have her repaired , they wanted to write it off but was asked for a real good reason why they should repair it, I told them to find me one . They allowed the repair which took 24 months and had to actually source some parts ( new old stock) from NZ. If you owned one you’ll understand the attraction to them, some loved the front, some hated it, but every XR falcon there after had that quad head light appearance there after. BA to FG still have genisis of quad head lamp set up compared to other variants.

I own a 95 VS Executive 5.0 manual in original condition. It too is still a gem to drive. It was originally ordered by a Holden factory worker so it's also got ABS, dual airbags, central locking, a/c etc.
@craigsampson3386Ай бұрын
I'm fairly sure thats all stock standard features and not optioned up, apart from the front passenger air bag in a VS Executive.
@rockygoodfellow77Ай бұрын
@craigsampson3386 I bought a VR SS new in August 1994. I had to option the manual gearbox and a/c. I did not option power windows, power mirrors, airbags or ABS. The Executive was the base model in those days, it came standard with the Ecotec V6 and auto gearbox. That's it. If you wanted an Executive with the V8, manual gearbox, dual airbags, ABS etc then you had to order it from the factory.
@craigsampson3386Ай бұрын
@@rockygoodfellow77 yeah you're partially correct, but the VS Executive came standard with remote central locking, power mirrors, immobiliser, ABS, single driver's airbag. Hey Ross, I'm the same guy who asked you which maloo you like better. And you said vz, then vf. I know this has nothing to do with this video, but it's about your vz thunder ute. I've got 2 vz ute (a 2005 vz ssz, same as the thunder with a high output ls1. And I've also got a supercharged 2006 vz HSV R8 series 2 maloo with only 80,000k's. The 2005 has just under 300,000k's on it and let me just say this, once they go over that 250,000k make ,shit starts getting weird as far as electrics ect. Mine did the same or very similar thing with the dash flickering and doing stuff I'd never seen. I know you said it's got a new battery, but that's all it ended up being in the end. I was thinking alternator, startermotor which it still needs. But a new battery fixed everything! Weird right? The diff is starting to go to shit too, thinking about taking the supercharged ls2 from the maloo and putting it in my other ute, because the engine has about had enough as well. And putting a supercharged LSA with a matching 6 speed sports auto with ative select and 9" IRS diff) so basically replacing the entire driveline. Maybe you can do a review on it mate!. When it's finished of course. But yeah I went through the same shit with my 2005 vz ssz ute, at one stage I had to send the ute ignition/computer set-up down to Melbourne to be completely reprogrammed!! So I just thought I'd let you know mate, when they get to 250,000k's, shit starts getting weird. I'll keep you posted on when the cars ready if you want to review it. Cheers mate.
