Many people believe agoraphobia is a separate problem on it's own. Agoraphobia falls under the anxiety category and is a consequence of not wanting to feel a certain feeling. Whether that's anxiety, panic, or any level of discomfort. Agoraphobia is a form of extreme avoidance behavior.

This really relates me so much, I cannot go to places that are especially far from my home, due to the feeling that I need to escape somehow, when anxiety starts kicking.

Dude you are like a mind reader! Been through that thought process of "what if xyz happens when I am out somewhere?!" Leaving the house got a lot more anxiety inducing after the pandemic too.

Thank you for the encouragement. I used to panic and worry so much about my safety when outside because of a history of illnesses. There were times when I felt uncomfortable physical symptoms and I had to ask strangers to walk me to my destination. After that, I chose to just stay home because I was concerned that taking public transportation on my own would be dangerous. Now that my physical condition is way better, my anxiety level has dropped tremendously and I am able to go out more and more.

I have what I think is agoraphobia and have only left the house maybe a handful of times in the last 3.5 years. I hate going outside now and avoid it as much as I can. But it's less scary to go further away. One of the rare times I left the house was to go in a car 50+ miles away. It's humans that I want to avoid being around, specifically people I know. The further I go away from my local town, the less stressful it is. But I can't afford to move home and I have a young niece here who I helped to raise that I couldn't leave. I'm not sure what the answer is. Medication and therapy hasn't done much.

I understand what you mean, for me it is a cross between knowing people who live in my area and also living in a crime filled neighbourhood which I never see spoken about with agoraphobia. There is a risk of something happening in this place and there’s no real way to take it head on

I havent left the house for 4 months now. Every single day I wake up and say today is the day come on you can do it but outside is scary, humans are unpredictable. I would rather just stay in my bubble.
