I never had the GB as a kid, but picked up a Gamegear as soon as I graduated Basic. Took that on every deployment until I was able to get a GBA.

Actually the new TFT/IPS decreases power consumption. This is because you remove the CFL tube to backlight the old screen. That was the reason the console was a power hog.

Never grew up on the game gear, always wanted one. From what I could tell it was a good system. If I could get a retro portable, I would lean towards a Sega Nomad. Also awesome modded game gear, it’s a good looking system.

I love the Sega game gear, I'm a truck driver and I played it in all 50 states. Still have it but it needs recapped and that mcwills screen is awesome. Great video wicked 😁

Great review, i like the option to use the original 6-battery power, although i wouldn't in 2021 really. But it _is_ pricey.

I had one back in the day, I have a Super Boy S now, it's just like a modern Nomad just for SNES with a rechargeable battery and a nice screen.

The different screen squashes/stretches the pixels in a really weird way, doesn't look the same - i have the same problem with the GB Boy Colour from eBay...!

I owned a gameboy pocket as a kid. it was mostly just a Pokémon red and yellow machine until i got a Gameboy advanced for my birthday. Now that i own a game gear i love it

Classic Game Boy and classic Game Boy Color games are best played on a backlit GBA SP. And as for the Sega Game Gear, the Game Gear is best played with the Sega Gear Master add-on for the Game Gear, which allows you to play your Sega Master System games on your Game Gear. If you own a Game Gear, then you don't need a Master System.

I pulled out my old DMG Gameboy i got in the early 90's. And i wondered how i could even play anything off of it. Even with a light i can bearly see what was happening. I think there a reason i didn't pickup another Handheld until the GBA SP AGS 101 and the Nintendo DS. When Backlight LCD Screen and Recharager batteries became standard.

Had the game gear. Still have mine but there's something wrong with the screen. It outputs but you can barely see anything and there are graphical glitches for any game. You think Mortal Kombat 2 was bad? Watch my video on Mortal Kombat 3 for the Game Gear 😁

Still have the same GameGear we got nearly 30 years ago..a few years ago i sent it away for repair..recapped and was offered the McWill screen upgrade (my tube had failed)..but i chose to get a standard blurry original tube replacement..it's poor yes..by todays standards..but a lot better than what the GameBoy came with..anyway..it's all emulation now..and i've got over a dozen devices for retro games..nothing compared to Wicked though eh..

Love the modded custom clear shell , , , however I hate the color of the buttons , ,Why are they the color of GameBoy 's buttons ?? The start button should always be Sonic blue 🔵 and the rest should be black , , ,now back in the day ,I used to play the hell out of "Super Columns" on the GameGear and I recommend it to you if you haven't played it , , , Also give "Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine" a try , , in your area it may have a different title " Dr Eggman's Mean Bean, , , 👁️👁️👍

Owned: game boy and had a lot of fun with it but I was so mad that Tertris was the pack in game and not mario when I was a kid because that was the only game I had for a long time and hated it LoL Borrowed: game gear a lot from a friend and liked what it had to offer Owned: Atari Lynx and I have the most enjoyable memories with that console as a kid... as far as portable gaming goes, nothing beats the Lynx version of Xenophobe 😊
