For anyone asking why everyone is freaking about the length here is an explanation: in the osu community numbers are used as phrases this is evident through certain numbers such as 727, in osu 727 means; when you see it. I’m pretty sure they are correlating it to the triple o keyboard as o is a common bind in osu normal, and taiko.

What about a keyboard where it's held vertically like an accordian, with all the vowels and non-letter keys on the left and the consonants on the right? Alternatively, have a go at making a racing wheel work as a keyboard (so the wheel turns from left to right to select the next letter with spacebar at the centre, accelerator to commit to the selected letter and brake for backspace. Potentially you could do something more advanced by implementing a predictive text functionality to make it more practical and/or using a gear shift to change between capitals, numbers, and symbols and toggling between predictive text and individual characters)
