Yep...Volvo v70'esque going on... Volvo, ahead of the game years ago with individualised transportation with typical Scandinavian minimalist design interiors. It's a shame they slipped into the same humdrum styling as other manufacturers. This design of the S wagon is interesting but the buttresses don't work for me. The rear glass panel needs to appear to integrate into the full length glass roof for a striking visual effects both interior and exterior. The rear lights would look better as a full width lighting element, as on the cybertruck, maybe integrated within the glass panel ( BMW i3 does this ), stealthily hidden until it becomes illuminated.

I don´t get the point where the front of the wagon is round and smooth and the tail is edged and sharp. This doesn´t make any sens to me.

Honestly completely missed the mark in my opinion, the cybertruck is the way it is because of production, all the panels are folded, this is essential for rapid and cheap production and i believe Tesla will go the same route with their next car too. So all surfaces have to be flat and all "curves" have to be sharp angels. Furthermore they shaped the truck like an airfoil for better wind restistance, i believe theyll keep that shape-style because its so practical, so a wagon would most likely still have a wedge shape with that signature pointy roof. I feel like the shapes you had were still too complex and the side ls werent flat enough

Design school critique: 1. If this is to be a production model redesign it’s lacking rear side lights/reflectors, as well as prominent lit license/reg plate location anywhere on rear (US and/or UK size). 2. The design language used in first 3/4 of car doesn’t flow into the later 1/4 rear of the design. 3. The body panel seams of final design rear don’t infer a clear understanding of the manufacturing process that requires it to be there. Point being the seam line for rear quarter panel and bumper facia left from the original car wouldn’t be used in the original location with the design change you made. 4. The purpose of having a station wagon is to have the ability to utilize the interior space most effectively as well as have easy access to said space. Your rear hatch/portal design doesn’t infer any such utility use that it should be given the large available flat end should be able to accommodate. 5. You make no mention of verbally or by design elements as to how the hatch is accessible. As you’re a self professed station wagon fan I’m surprised you didn’t include the type of access type. Such as side swing, tailgate, up hatch or other type.

This video makes me wonder WHY more brands haven’t made more electric wagons. They’re low, sporty, and long. That means they’re perfect candidates for low, big batteries for long range and insane performance. The Volvo v90 is a beautiful machine but imagine if it were electric

Hey SketchMonkey, I think you may not know why the Cybertruck looks like it does. It isn't a rejection of styling, it's a direct result of the material. The "30x cold-rolled" steel they're using is so strong that stamping machines can't shape it. The only way they can work the steel is by scoring a deep line in it where they want a bend, and folding there. It doesn't really hold a curve either. That basically limits design to flat, simple geometries; like origami. The reason they chose something so strong is because they wanted a frameless, "exoskeleton" design to maximize interior space. The body is structural. I imagine it's a lot cheaper and easier to manufacture as well.

You missed the mark on this one. The Cybertruck ended up looking the way it does because they cleared the drawing board and answered the most basic questions...what is the most rugged, cheapest, and unique way to design a pickup truck? So in essence it was form following function. This "Cyberwagon" is a stylized Model S, still containing just as many, if not more, hydro-formed body panels. This defeats the whole "Cyber" design philosophy. To truly design a Cyberwagon you must answer the same questions just as the Cybertruck has done.

I believe the concept of the cyberwagon is not just to look cybery and polarizing and different, but to save cost by using a frame and flat stell panels as body. Since the cars body is expensive to produce and this is supposed to be the ultimate utility vehicle they made it the way it looks. no paint no bodypanel shaping. So this car you made is actually still to timid and pretty with its shoulder line etc xD Good video though, thanks

Hello from Finland! I love your channel. I have an idea for a some kind of “fast series” where you switch/mix grilles and details on today’s popular and best selling cars. And emphasis this way how simililar, boring and unambitious they are. And maybe point out few which still have personality and unique proportions. Instead of a diamond shape, the bottom sides should be straight and be parallel to the headlights. Th e tailgate needs the license plate bracket and maybe the Tesla logo too. The rear taillights remind me of Cadillac.

As a designer, I’ve got to mention that your idea is spot on, but I still think you have added too much detail to be in the same lineup as the Cybertruck. The said vehicle is very triangular as well as square. I wouldn’t have kept a shoulderline, nor round wheel arches namely.

We'll see how it turns out in real life, but he shape of the Cyber truck hurts its functionality from what I could see so far. The apex of the wedge being in the middle of the passenger compartment seems like a significant noise concern. And the slant down to the tailgate hurts reach over without having to climb into the bed. As for the wagon, I'll take the third one at the beginning.
