I agree! We have had 5 drafts since being in rebuild. We used to find OL from 4th to FA rounds. Coach those guys up and then put them out there! After 5 drafts, we should have a 6'3 220 wr that can run and CATCH and we should have some younger versions of D Andrews! The front office survived the purge, but can these guys evaluate and coach WR's and OL! This next draft needs to be a put or shut up situation for this group.

They had bad teams from 1989 until 1994. 1 year after Drew Bledsoe was drafted. The worst season was 1990 with a 1-15 record. This does suck but you have to be patient

I still don't get the bad oline excuse for not putting Maye there. This is football, not silkhands ball. More than half the league has a bad o-line. The only way the kid will learn to be a QB is by playing. He's not sitting behind Favre, Bledsoe, Rodgers or Alex Smith. He's sitting behind a backup qb who had a good offense when Luck retired and could barely score 20 points... Let the kid have his baptism by fire...

Watching Purdy scramble all over the place against us shows how important this ability is to creating chunk plays. Everything with our offense is so arduous. I feel sorry for the guy and no one should feel sorry for a starting QB's inability to play QB. It's not the O-line's fault alone. Coach Mayo? I don't know yet. He needs to just "do his job." Then the second game when the opposition realises he's all that's back there and they play man to man tight coverage on the receivers and and load the box and obliterate maye. the third game maye starts patting the ball and they go zero blitz. the forth game the defense is stronger and throw the house at maye and he is totally exposed. by the end of the season he's seeing ghosts. feeling pressure when there isn't any. they can play back and maye throws a record 6 int's. jakobi was confident and was so excited when the season started. that is until he realised what he was standing behind was the worst offensive line in history. look, unfortunately this is what jakobi signed up for. his only chance at starting was alway going to be that he had to show true grit and experience in the face of adversity. this isn't about wins and loses this is about draft position. ever hear that expression, you lose by winning? they need another high draft position and it must be on the best offensive tackle in the draft. For everyone saying you should sit Maye for the whole year, then you should not have drafted a QB with the number 3 pick. Should have traded it for other picks and worked on other areas of need. You essentially just wasted the number 3 pick in the draft by doing that. “Drake shouldn’t start until the line is fixed.” Ok, how long will that be? Between free agents not wanting to come here and not hitting on every pick in the draft, you can’t be 100% certain it will be fixed by next season. It may take a few seasons for the line to be fixed, you are going to sit him for a few seasons? Goes right back to, then you should have traded the number 3 pick for others. “He is going to get hurt behind that line!” This is football, there is always a chance you are going to get injured on any play on any play in any game. Finally, stop the comparisons with the Green Bay packers, two totally different situations. Jordan Love was learning behind Aaron Rodgers. Maye is learning behind Brissett….. What happened to him was not because he was the starting quarterback right out of the gate. He had arguably the best rookie season of any QB in his draft class. But he couldn’t sustain that level of success in year 2 and year 3.

Anyone thinking this team was going to win anything this year doesnt know football. It makes ZERO sense to throw your top drafted QB behind a bum O-line. The coaches shoiuld be preparing the team for when their QB does start and that includes scheming/designing the offense specifically for Maye's talents.

They should get a back up from another team to replace Jacoby. You don’t play maye because jacoby sucks. You play him when he is absolutely ready to go. He was not ready in just watching him against jets and preseason.
