Sting was a member of the British rock band The Police and one of their hits was Roxanne - you should give it a listen in order to understand why Phoebe shouted to Ross : "Ross can" that way 😆 and yes it is Sting's wife, Trudie

In terms of their rent don’t forget that the apartment is rent controlled because it’s Monica’s grandmothers who she is illegally subletting so the rent would be significantly cheaper than what it would be normally. Still and insane amount to spend on boots.

Everytime Ross & Phoebe are together they always have such great chemistry. I think it's fitting for them. Ross is like the 3rd wheel in the Chandler & Joey friendship & Phoebe is like the 3rd wheel with Monica & Rachel friendship. So they connect really well.

Nick...awwww...almost completely missing The Police jokes. They are a pretty famous band, after all. The cast keeps making jokes singing "Ross can" as a play on "Roxanne" which was one of their biggest hits. Trudie Styler is his wife and, yes, she is the person who makes the guest appearance.

21:14 Yes. More importantly, it's *_the band Sting was in._* Also, 16:19 / 23:00 is parodying their song "Roxanne", and that really is Sting's wife, Trudie Styler, playing herself. (So both these episodes had celebrity guest stars. Styler does quite well, but Brad Pitt has one of the most hilarious guest star stints of the entire show imo.)

re: turkey- my daughter decided at age 8 that she never wanted to eat turkey, because "they are stupid and really cute". We did not have turkey at Thanksgiving for another 14 years! Which is sad, because my husband and I both really like it, lol. We had a lot of non-traditional dinners- all Greek food, lasagna, salmon, and Thai food among them.

I don't have strong feelings about turkey as a food, but I have very strong feelings about them as an animal! A family down the street from me had turkeys and goats, and when I was in high school they would pay me to take care of them while they were on vacation. The goats were super sweet, but that male turkey was awful!!! So territorial. Once, when I was pulling leaves off the trees to feed the goats, he attacked me from behind- a 30 lb turkey landing talons first on the small of my back!! After that my dad had to come with me and distract him while I took care of the goats. So, honestly, even if I ever decided to become a vegetarian on the moral grounds of not eating animals, I think I could still make an exception for turkey with a clear conscience ;)

Dina's boyfriend Bobby reminds me of Phoebe's brother, Frank Jr., played by Giovanni Ribisi. I personally love turkey, not in an obsessive way, more in a health way. I eat a lot of turkey and chicken because they're high in protein, and they don't have carbs or sugar, which as a diabetic, is very important to keep blood sugar low.

Regarding Monica's willingness to buy that Chandler and Phoebe were watching the match, I think there are two opposing forces at work there. 1. She knows there are a lot of things to be done and she is sort of a control freak, so she feels compelled to give them chores so she manages to get everything ready. 2. Monica is only pleased with Monica's work. Every time she delegates a chore she dies a bit inside because she knows it won't be as good as if she had done it all herself. So the match is a compromise. She can tell herself she "would" have delagated, but oh, bad luck, they *really* wanted to watch that. I mean it's not like I'm projecting or anything... it's not like my mother did this my whole childhood and then as an adult I started doing the exact same thing... me? See myself in Monica? No, not at all, I'm super chill😂😂😂

A couple of interesting side notes: 1) Monica's imaginary boyfriend's name was Jared. Jared was the spokesman for Subway Sandwiches at the time of the filming... Brad Pitt said he was going to be in a Subway Sandwich commercial. (Jared is in prison for horrid things he did.) Sting is so amazing as a singer. His music library contains everything from rock and pop (The Police) to songwriting, acting, and teaching musical history. His genres span from classical to reggae-inspired, to world music... and his newest love is medieval/renaissance music. He plays a wide variety of medieval instruments and has an amazing knowledge of the history of music. (He was brilliant on Rick Beato's show.) Yes, Trudie Styler, Sting's wife, was the guest star in Sting's house on _Friends_ . I encourage watching "Sting, Live in Berlin" for a delicious taste of this yummy man. Someone asked what an Early Bird Dinner was. Old people (like me) eat early so we can go to bed early. In the olden days, restaurants had Early Bird Specials for older folks. "The Rumor" doesn't stand up in our PC world, but I still find it quite amusing. Guessing you've never watched _Sex and the City_ or you would not bat an eye at $2000 boots. Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) regularly spent $500+ on one pair of shoes. These 2 episodes slay me every time. Watching you laugh so hard, Nick, was freakin' hilarious!

When i was 30 I moved to live with my grandfather to take care of him and maintain his ranch. He lived in the countryside outside a small town. Our first Thanksgiving together, I took him to the grocery store to get a turkey. I walked up to the section of the store that had turkeys and there was like 20 people crowed around the turkeys. My grandfather walked up and saw the situation and then looked the other way and said..... "there ain't nobody fighting over the Mexican food" and for the next 10 years I made homemade enchiladas and refried beans for Thanksgiving.
