VorTech Water Solutions (VWS) solves energy intensive municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. Wastewater treatment has a massive energy footprint, consuming 1-2% of the world’s electricity. This is being continuously intensified by population growth and increasingly stringent treatment regulations. A significant contributor to the energy demand is the aeration process in biological treatment, accounting for up to 1% of the world’s electricity, which continues to employ outdated and inefficient aeration technologies. Energy efficiency has never had sufficient focus in the design of aeration systems. The Vortex Power Aerator, a novel wastewater aeration technology that massively reduces the energy of wastewater aeration has been developed to reduce the footprint of these processes.
