I'd first started about just about over a year ago. My body weight was 175kg. My 5k target at that time was under an hour, progress to sub 50, sub 45, and sub 40. My next target is sub 35 (almost had it last weekend, missed by 30 seconds). It maybe slow to most runners, but for me, it is a huge achievement. Apart from that I'd also planned to run my half marathon sub 2h50m (did 2h55 earlier this month)

Thank you, this comment gives me hope! My first running goal was to reach sub 30 5K as well. It was a new year's resolution of 2018 for me, but after ticking that off, I somehow I just stuck to my usual chill runs with much slower 5Ks. Which was fun, but after a while I let myself believe I was not even capable of more. Only in recent years I have discovered how much motivation races give me and I realized I AM capable of more. 20 min still seems impossible to me, but I'm working towards making the 30 min more of a comfortable pace rather than race pace.

So i haven't gone running in a couple of years now, and i only ever did it to supplement rugby fitness. But back in the day where i was doing weekly parkruns, i couldnt get over the fact that as i got fitter, and was able to run for longer, rather than needing to walk, it actually made my overall time slower!!! I was minutes faster sprint walking than i was just slow jogging. So as i was hovering around that 30 minute mark, i felt like i had to choose between pushing for getting under 30 minutes, or slowing down to do continuous running. Basically i always chose the time over the ability to run non stop. Probably not the right choice, but i really wasnt a runner. I think if i got back into it, id really have to make sure my first goal is to learn how to run continuously before caring about my overall time.

Your just like me, i run in Km but can do miles too.. it gives me more milestones to aim for, so after i hit 1km, i aim for 1 mile, then 2km and 3km and then 2 miles... it keeps the sense of achievement going 😂

Sub 30 is my goal. Cannot quite get close enough. I'm trying. Thanks for the vid. ❤

This is my aim this year. I’m currently 5 mins off it. I have done it before so hoping to do it again

Well done and thank you Anna 🙌🏻 I have been working on achieving a sub-30 parkrun this year. I went to a flat parkrun and achieved 29:59 on my Garmin, however my parkrun time came in at 30:02 🙈😩😩😩😄 I look forward to trying to crack this in 2024 and will follow your strategy 🙏🏻

I was able to get my 5k time down from 35:10 to 28:40 this year. Love your videos!!!

My goal for 2024. Thank you, Anna.

Great video! My current goal is to actually race a 5k. Boring ol' time trials at the track don't get you nearly as pumped as being in a real race environment.

Started training for 5k pace in late August. Ran my first 5k race at the end of October to a 35:03. Improved to a 34:13 on Thanksgiving Day. Still looking for that sub 30 pace though.

More my sort of pace and worked hard to get it too! Really nice to be represented.

Really great! I'd be much more out of breath especially with someone filming me too! Right now the goal is to get the 25 min mark soon on my 5k after my foot heals in the next 2 months!

Anna..... AWESOME pacing!! You're such a great Coach! I don't think I can ever do sub 30, but I do improve my times in some races...which I count as a win😊

Great video! I love how you talk about what you're thinking about through the run. I found that talking myself through my runs erases the negativity or intimidated feeling I have through my runs. I do a 5K every other day now. I used to take a walk break during the runs but now I make sure I don't stop until the run is complete. It is a good feeling to push all the way through. I just subscribed. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Take care.

What a great video! I actually raced along and pushed myself to be faster than the video and commentary. 26 minute 5K thanks to this video. I wish there was more videos like this for breaking 25 minutes etc.
