The lift kit isn’t to blame for the shudder/shaking, these year model Colorado’s actually have a factory recall on the torque converter which tends to cause transmission shudder at around 55-65 mph, they also put the wrong transmission fluids in a lot of them from the factory which has also been known to cause a shudder at highway speeds, I’d try draining the trans first and refilling with new fluids and if that doesn’t help its more than likely going to be your torque converter, I own a 2018 and experienced the same issues, between 55-65 it would just randomly decide to start vibrating and shaking, new torque converter fixed the problem and other than that it’s been an amazing truck, 10/10 would recommend to anyone, hope this helps someone ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼

I have a 6” rough country lift and I’ve never had a shimmy or shake while driving except at a low speed in a turn. I recently put new aftermarket upper control arms and tie rods in and it almost took it away completely i also changed the pressure in the tires. I also know that it has mud tires and I’m not looking for a Cadillac ride. Nonetheless, I love the lift kit and it’s treating me well. I even took mine to the dealership and they couldn’t figure it out. As far as off road the kit is a champ! I’m always trying to get off-road. I hope it helps. Good luck

I like your truck lift. I installed the Rancho levelling shocks. 1.75" front lift and 2" rear shackles. With original tires rides better than stock shocks. When changed from 255/65R17 to 265/70R17 the truck sway side to side. Because tires are LT I have to fill to 50 psi to reduce the sway. Now is more stable. Regards..

The shake between 55-60 is most likely your IFS CV boot, had that happen to my Ram. The squeak could depend on which lift you went with, if you went with the strut pillar it’s very common, also when leveling with pillars you’ll hear it, I took me a while to figure it out when my ran was leveled with a strut pillar. If you go with their coil overs or V3 shocks it goes away. It’s Ali best to get the Icon control arms for the front and other things to keep your drive line angles correct.

I got 2 1/2" suspension lift and Zone offroad 1 1/2" body lift with 20" Moto Metal wheels 19mm offset with 285/55/20 Milestar Patogonia MT tires on my 2017. Mine has the same slight shimmy in the front from about 48 to 55 mph. Then it goes away. I believe its the due to the tire size and tread pattern. Mine also has the squeaking noise and its been that way for a year since I installed the suspension lift, cant for the life of me find whats causing it.

Running the 4 inch Rough Country lift, 33 inch tires, and 17 inch wheels. I notice the slight steering wheel shake as well as the squeak from the rear shocks. But overall, I’m very happy with the lift and would recommend!

I had the same shake at that speed , it turned out my front driver side wheel was not balanced properly when i had new tires installed. Did the wheel balance and the wobble disappeared

Had that same squeaking noise you were describing about 3-4 months in.. I sprayed some wd40 brand grease they have at autozone on the control arm bushings and it disappeared but came back a few months later.. every time I spray it stays quiet for a couple month… I just keep reapplying it takes about a minute for both sides.

Zone offroads 5.5 inch lift kit says in the description that installing bigger wheels and tires on a colorado can cause the wheel to vibrate, it's due to the very sensitive electric power steering system

Honestly I thought it was just me with the wheel vibration between that 50mph to 60mph and same thing with that noise of the shocks you talking about. RC isn't a bad lift, its a good starting kit for your a budget to get into the lifted truck world. I have a 2015 gmc sierra 1500 with 7in lift nuckle kit on 35s with 22 but I currently decided to upgrade to the bds fox 8in reservoirs lift which I'm excited for that and for a far better ride.

Is your wheels hub or lug centric because most times if you have a shake in that 50-55 mph range is due to it not being hub or lug centric which centers the wheel. Pretty common with aftermarket wheels.

I am going with the 3 1/4" inch lift that doesn't change the shocks and struts or springs. This is the biggest lift that RC provides for the Canyon/Colorado without changing how the truck rides and handles. I don't want to mess up the beautiful factory ride.

I have a 2018 gmc canyon that had a shake on it as well around 45 mph. After installing a lift kit and new wheels the shake was still there. I then found out that canyons tend to have the wrong transmission fluid coming out the factory. You'd have to change it to some other transmission oil(I don't know which one at the moment) or else the old oil will harm the torque converter. Hope this helps cause it definitely helped me. No more vibrations.

I have a 2018 gmc canyon and I found out the shake is due to transmission problems. You can fix it by changing the stock transmission oil to another one (I don't know which at the moment) or else it will harm the torque converter. Do some research on that and hopefully it helps cause it did help me.

Good information and thanks for sharing your experience with the lift kit. I don’t think your rims are any of the vibration or shiny you have. I had a set of tires years ago on my 4wheel drive Ford Ranger. I had to take the tires to a dealer which could true tires. Over a year before I even had to balance them again. I didn’t have a lift kit.

Brother I got the same setup as you. I was told it shakes because I don’t have hub rings. Their is a space between the hub and the wheels that needs to get filled in with the hub rings. Gonna try to get them.

Actually it will depend on the size of wheel tire and combo... some people keep the stock wheel with a bigger tire (35s) and just put a leveling kit on it ... which you can get it from Rough Country as well .... but again, it depends on the tire wheel combo

That little shake / vibration is probably from a tire that is slightly out of balance. It could be something else, but when you have a vibration around a certain speed that goes away when you get above that speed or slow down, an out of balance tire is the usual culprit 😉 (I posted this comment before watching much of the video, so I did hear you say you had already tried the wheel balance). Not sure if you had them done on or off the truck, but if you can have them high speed balanced while on the truck it may make a difference.

I got RC 4 inch kit from a private seller and the kit has a "shock extension" at the front (and N2 shock at the back) instead of a real N3 shock. (I believe the kit was made a few years ago). Just wondering what would be the difference between shock extension vs a one-piece shock? Or would you recommend me to get a separate pair of N3 shock instead?

Called RC today, they said a lifted shock will ride better than a shock extension. N3 shock has a wider tube than N2 shock, so it's able to handle higher impulse

Unless you have a driveshaft vibration from a bad pinion angle which is probably unlikely if your lift came with tapered blocks, I would say your driveline vibration has nothing to do with your suspension. I am pretty sure its your wheel tire combo. Are your wheels hub centric? If not, you need hub rings so that your rims are centered. Tires could be out of balance or out of round. It happens. Try rotating you tires front to rear if the vibration changes to more or less or occurs at a different speed its definitely the wheels. Okay, I looked up your wheels and they are definitely not hub centric and that is the first thing you should fix. The Colorado's center bore is 66.9. From what I could find, your wheel hub bore is 87.10. You need to order custom hub rings that reduce your wheel bore to 66.9. This will center your wheel before you tighten the lugs. Just google custom hub rings and you can see what you need.

Looks awesome. Probably knocked your gas mileage by 2-3 mpg. All their lift parts are made in the USA. Dough country lifts are quality. But their shocks are average for the industry. The shaking is the tires wheel combination. The I built lift kits from 1982-1985. Agree on the powder coat. You can clean and paint the parts in place. It will be ok. If you set the BDS and rough county side by side, you’ll find their suspension mounting points are identical n

great video, and your wheel shake is definately due to wheels. i had a BDS system with fox coil overs and fox 2.0's in the back and running 20x10 -12 offset wheels it was very smooth. as soon as i installed 22x12 -44 wheels the same thing happened to my truck at 50 plus mph id get the wheel shake. i had a 2016 silverado 1500. and also peoples biggest argument is that its the cheapest kit you can get due to poor quality which isnt true. they are all made pretty much the same, same metal ect. when you pay for the more expensive lifts all the extra money spent is on the shocks.

The lift itself doesn’t cause it do be off. It’s the taller tires that do it. If you did just a lift or level and kept the same tires you won’t have an issue. The trip meter and miles will be off too because it can’t measure it correctly with taller than stock tires.

R.C. 4" short arm lift. 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Sport 4.7ltr $700.00. No wobble at any speed, 70 mph no problem,. BUT! now I have this horrible creaking sound on front left side when truck dips up and down. Sounds like upper control arm area. Did not do it before installing lift. It has to be found as it is very embarrassing. Wish me luck.

The shake is because of your offset, the bigger offset creates a shake because of the electronic steering

With my early experience with smaller trucks/suvs lifting and putting bigger wheels and tires they do not do well with the extra weight of wheels and tires. I’ve gone through multiple cv axles etc. Bigger trucks are made better and can handle it. Little trucks like the Colorado, s10 etc are just made with smaller parts etc. They will shake like a B on the road. Compare that with a half ton and above, those are made to throw weight on it. So it’s tough to say any light pickup or suv will ride well after major adjustments

If you have Atturo trail blades it’s your tires that are making your steering wheel shake. Terrible tire.

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Rough Country has been doing lift kits since the 1980s. The shocks are made by Gabriel. That shake is from them wide wheels and offset. The electric power steering is very sensitive with them wheels. The truck should ride the same as stock because you're running the same springs. The lift kit just lowers the front lower control arms and differential in front and adds blocks to the rear. The main thing this kit lacks is bumpstop extensions, "Included with the BDS kit". See video at 7:30. The yellow factory bumpstop is useless. The strut will bottom out in hard use making for a hard ride and shortened shock life. That kit could also use longer brakelines.

You haven't had an issue because you don't go offroad. Most people lift their trucks to go offroad. Rough country doesn't drop the diff, you have vibrations while driving, and it squeaks. Sorry just saying, other then that. Cool video.

Angle of the steering column! I had that problem. The with the shaking at high speeds. I adjusted my steering column and it had a better feel to it.

It comes down to a compromise,anytime you lift a truck & put larger wheels & tires on it you are going to lose some ride quality & fuel economy.here in Florida I see these lifted trucks & I like the look but it's not for me.I'm on the highway too much & wouldn't want to make the compromise for all the money spent.but it looks great & does turn my head.

No way a simple lift causes vibration. Vibration comes with rotation....something is up with your wheels, tires, spacers, drive shaft...something that rotates.

Love my mini dmax z71 .. people need to stop buying trucks if they want the ride to be like a Cadillac.. a truck should ride like shit thats the point.. i want to know im driving a truck not a prius . I blame the manufacturers for producing 100k yuppie mobiles.. I installed my 6" Rc in my garage by myself. For the cost you can't beat it solid lift kit !!!
