Hi all, would you like more solo flugelhorn content like this? Trying out some new video ideas - I wondered, would uploading some random trumpet/flugel ditties I come up with almost every day/every day be of interest? Thought I could make a little series of just raw playing? Give this comment a like if so/let me know your thoughts!

I'd like to hear your thoughts about flugelhorn (pros and cons). I try to find out which instrument is the best for me baritone, euphonium or flugelhorn.

I’ve never understood how people improvise and make it sound so practiced and clean. it’s so impressive. also I’m not opposed to you uploading the random things you come up with

It's mainly through just doing it a lot, after a while things start to feel more natural and fall into place easier :) Thanks for your comment 🎺

That’s incredible. I picked up alto for jazz band and this is beyond me. The ability to play something that crisp, that clean, and that smooth without any practice before hand is incredible. God, what I would do to be able to do that on just alto, let alone my main instrument. I would die a happy man if I could.

Another thing I loved with this is that your vibrato was just right in the perfect areas. Starting and ending on the low Ab was a perfect with that ragtime type shuffle sound. The slowly making your tempo change as you went along. Each break you took was perfect. Again great job Oli. 👏🏻👏🏻🎺

Goddamn, I clicked play and after three notes a cigarette and a glass of scotch just materialized in my hands out of thin air. It's 1pm here, mister, I can't indulge like that

I am an intermediate trumpet player and I started playing your solos just as a fun challenge. You have inspired me to work a lot on my tone as well as other technical aspects of the trumpet. I love your solos and improvisation. I would definetley like to see more content like this and I look forward to every video! Thank you!❤

I could sit and listen to you play like this all day. I love what you do. I am a 70-year-old wannabe tap dancer and I dance to jazz all the time, and I just love the vibe I get when you play. Thank you.

If I understand this horn correctly, a softer less piering, a more melow sound. I am surprised this horn never dominated jazz. That sounds seems perfect for most of jazz....???

it's expensive and the upper register is a bit more harsh on your chops

We've all seen it. Youngsters start out on trumpet and there will come a time when they are ready to except flugel horns as legit.... I'm personally very happy to seen the horns getting represented because it means more creative possibilities for the young ones... and I don't mean Neil and Vivian... maybe Rick but then who really knows...

This exactly what I'm talking about. Your sound is such a warm touch no matter what you play. I love doing improve playing. You should add a little bit of some songs here and there. Maybe some improve with the song Misty then more improve then some Louis Armstrong, back to improve. Just doing about 3-4 measures of the songs then more improve. This is just an idea that I like doing. The flugel is an absolutely gorgeous sound. Thank you Oli for posting this. Made my day 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎺

Hi Oli thanks for posting your great music. Your sound, tone and technique is allready amazing ! I wonder how you would sound on a cornet, but that is too much to ask. Anyway your tone on trumpet and flugel is great and it is a real joy to listen to it. Thank you Oli.

I've been studying trumpet performance in college for a few years. I can play through some hard piece like out of the arbans. But I'm still stuck on improvisation. My mind is just blank. I've tried some chord and scale patterns but it sounds boring. I just don't have a creative mind.
