I didn't know Steam Deck wishes to be a $1200 device that will plummet in price once their next iteration and Rog Ally comes, that have thermal problems that literally cracks the shell.

True, I love my steam deck to death! Sure it isn’t the most powerful gpu but it wasn’t created for that. It’s more balanced gaming and for comfort and portability. If I wanted something powerful, I could just get a rtx 4090 in my pc rig.

100% agree. I love my SD. I think valve should definitely look to other handhelds for how to improve the SD2, but Valve did an awesome job with the deck on their first try. It's an almost perfect device.

@@patbateman69420 I agree with you expect for Valve looking to other companies for ideas. I think and expect that Valve has been looking and for improvements since day one of release since, even though the SD isn't the first handheld PC, SD is the only device with a "custom" CPU which indicates Valve is showing a little more initiative and it's the first handheld PC that has brought this "niche" mainstream. Regardless of the newer devices coming out, until windows makes a mobile version, as far as user experience resulting in a console experience, nothing will directly compare to the device. That's until devices start coming with SteamOS installed out the box.

The steam deck definitely doesnt want to be the most powerful handheld on the market. The deck has the best value for price and is the most compatible with other platforms. Also has a larger community behind it which supports emulation on the deck way more than any other handheld i have seen.
@ThePhilosogamer
@ThePhilosogamer Жыл бұрын
The deck potentially has the best value for dollar if you buy the $400 model (which no one does), or at least it will until the ROG Ally comes out. But, in terms of compatibility, it is still well behind that of every windows handheld - including in emulation - and always will be until developers start giving Linux more attention for game development.
@Later_Nerd
@Later_Nerd Жыл бұрын
@@ThePhilosogamer the Ally is still very expensive in comparison to the deck. I mean the Steam Deck turned me into a handheld PC enthusiast (and you are probably too if you are in these comments) which means we are a lot more likely to be able to justify the $700 price point on the ROG Ally. But it's still nearly double the price. The deck also has an amazing software experience. SteamOS really makes it feel like a console experience which is great for a lot of people. I personally will be picking up an Ally because even though I have an Ultrawide desktop PC setup and a PS5, I do 90% of my gaming on the Steam Deck. The form factor is just amazing and the improved specs are worth it to me. But to a lot of people, $400 is doable, whereas $700 just isn't. Especially when the Steam Deck accomplishes largely the exact same thing and is backed by a great company. Steam Deck sales will take a hit due to the Ally but they will still fly off shelves. Plus when the Steam Deck 2 finally comes out, most people will probably go back to the Steam Deck. At least I think I would because I love those touchpads that no other company seems to care about.

Going off your FPS stats (800p) I can literally get 5-8 less frames on average on the Steam Deck 720p on the games you stated. How is tbat blowing it out the water? If expect a stable 60fps at least at 800p for the price they charge.

its just funny whenever I see videos like this because you can get a steam deck with the same specs (besides ssd) starting for 400, 530, and 650. Yet these handhelds already start at like 900 lol
@ThePhilosogamer
@ThePhilosogamer Жыл бұрын
@@Resstario The 6800U and 7840U start at 700 USD and always for a spec that matches the deck's 670 USD. They are competitive price-wise if you don't want to upgrade the SSD any time soon. The advantage the Deck has (apart from its more energy efficient APU) is that you can opt to buy it for 400 and upgrade the SSD yourself to save money. Mind you, this was a *terrible* deal when the deck launched due to how expensive high capacity SSDs were, which is why over 90% of Deck owners paid for the most expensive model. But, because SSD prices have come down, it is now the best option.
