Hey... Just wanted to say, as much as I love your ASMR-like trail videos with no dialogue, I love this with the live narration! You've a really great relaxed style and lots of interesting things to say, and it helps that you're super passionate about it too. Would love more of these.

enjoy yr clips Dave. as for skills folks, just keep at it + vary yr riding terrain. noticed some important subtle changes in my connection w bike last time I was out on a new location. t steepness was a bit beyond me at times but noticed my mind had elevated its awareness more around where t front wheel was going at all times… as if it’d figured out THIS was t important factor on this days outing. always stoked to b riding/ thinking about t next one!

at 67 years of age and 45 years of riding Squamish I felt i had earned my ebike. so I got a Sight VLT ....I worried that it would become a habit , but now I realize it is a dependency. hahah! I don't worry about my own opinions on e bikes, let alone the opinions of others and now ride happily in the middle of a pack of young and old riders and simply enjoy the day

I do like the narration while riding. I’ve seen it mentioned by another subscriber, obviously your little snickers and laughs are great! “Come on Dave” also let me know that you’re busting your ass! But like I say the calm narration is really a cool thing especially when you’re hitting that double black feature! I did ask on another video when you were on your Norco, rear wheel lifts, are they tougher, or are you just leaning into it a little more?
@ddangerousddave

Definitely tougher to pivot. You need to be much more deliberate compared to a lighter bike. It's interesting though because it makes me find alternate lines and techniques to compensate.

I have a norco sight vlt. The thing I like most is that I can just go faster up the mtn. I swear I actually work harder on the e-bike as I’m taking less breaks and more excited to keep my speed up. Majority of MTB will be e-bikes in 5-10 years. It’s just better.

Interesting thoughts on riding tech trails on an eMTB. I have been riding trails like these for many years on my acoustic bike and I ordered an eMTB as my ride after surgery. I figured it's better than no riding at all, and the advantages and disadvantages are pretty easy to figure out conceptually. I appreciate the "real world" commentary.

Most people in the real world don’t ride double black on analogue or ebikes. Love my ebikes and regular ride black trails. But then again I just rode in Andorra on a Commencal SX and loved it. So I just bought a new Commencal Clash. This will be strictly for chair lifts and shuttles. I’m in it for going down, not riding up.

Nice riding. I’ve got about 700 miles on my 52lb, 250W mid-drive hardtail (mostly on green and blue trails in CO). I’ve found the bike seems lighter the more I ride it. I leave it at 0 assist on downhills and relatively flat places. But I have also noted it is a bit harder to change lines (especially on climbs). Seems like once Im locked in a line, I’d better just ride it out.
@richardburns5925

It will get lighter as well! As the battery with a three to five year lifespan wears out, them price a new battery up! Where as My Scott Scale 710 hardtail purchased in 2018 next year is five years old, still as good as new!

since switching to e-bikes I've found for dh double black etc it just takes getting used to the weight of it. You learn the sweet spot and handling characteristics of the heavier weight. We are just so used to using light bikes that it feels awkward at first. I grew up riding 45-50 pound dh bikes though so that may also be a factor. I still definitely prefer a regular bike for skinnies as it is just easier to maneuver. I'm hoping over time I get use to skinnies on it as well.

We have the same bikes. Meta SX and meta SX ebike. I ride the ebike once a week and the acoustic version twice a week. Do the same trail (second trail) as in this video quite regularly. Some things are actually easier on the ebike. But certainly not as playful. But to be able to do a big lap in just over an hour is crazy. Up versus down ratio is about 1/1. 30 mins up give me 30 down.

20 years ago and 'shore' or DH bikes were all in the 50lb range and people seemed to be able to ride these trails ok without a 'fail'. Bike tech has moved on for sure, but an e-bike doesn't 'fail' because it's heavier than a modern trail bike - sorry. Anyway i avoid riding technical stuff when i'm too tired, alone especially, recipe for disaster. My ebike is derestricted and with two batteries it allows me to skip the car, which is good for my fitness and the environment. Sure it means i have some road riding to do but i can live with it.
