Something I see over and over again is people trading real money before they even know how to trade. As you said, it takes YEARS to learn this. But so many are rekt (and then bitter) way before that because they traded real money. My mentor taught me to stay in sim until I can get 3 back-to-back green months. I just reached year 2 and that hasn't happened yet, so I'm still in sim. And I'm still here. I'm not rekt and I'm not bitter. I'm still going strong! I have outlasted 80% of others who already dropped out by year 2. One of the best things I've heard is to treat this like a 4-year university. I just began my junior year, and if I were a mechanical engineering major in college, nobody would expect me to be building bridges at the beginning of my junior year.

I always say trading is like fishing. You have to wait to catch the right trade. Sometimes you get a small bite and might pull in a small fish, only to throw it back into the water. Sometimes you lose your bait or even your hook too. Those kinds of losses should be minimal. And, sooner or later, you'll catch the big fish.

Totally agree! After blowing multiple accounts etc etc.... have realised nothing will change if you cannot wait for price to come to you. Sometimes i dont have trades maybe two days in a row, trading in the 5 min chart thats a lot of waiting. I used to take 10 trades or more in my early stages in a single day. Now i realise patience helps u lose lesser and earn more on the trades that u take. Also, commit to the trade that u decide to take, let it hit SL or TP, thats a big change that comes from being patient.

Low position sizes = risk management. I had to reduce down to no more than 1% of my total account at risk per trade which sucks because on a 10% gainer i typically only make 8.5% but i still get a little bit bigger every trade while still being able to set my stop at 1 atr below support. You gotta do the math. Know your win/loss ratio as well as your P/L and keep flipping that coin. Tori is right, slow and steady wins the race. Dont be a gun slinger, live to fight another day!

So very true Tori. But patience is so hard to learn in this point and click, instant gratitude society. But it is one of the most important traits to become successfully profitable. Thanks to learning this, I just passed my first Prop firm evaluation on my 4th account reset. Hopefully i can keep patience at the forefront of my strategy. Setting alerts has helped out a lot for patience so, I don't sit in front of those super tempting price action movements, calling my name to enter a trade that will surely drain me of capital. I've also learned that I should not be trying to, or focus mostly on making more capital but to put most of my effort into not losing money. If that is the most important thing on my mind before entry, the money is most probable to grow.

My plan has been to put $1000/ month toward reaching the $25k needed to day trade without limits, practicing and studying along way. By the time I reach that milestone, I will have had a little over 2 years growing my skills …and even after all that, I’ll still just be getting started. So far so good! And happy to have you in my mix of mentors 😀
@catladytrucker76083 ай бұрын
If you trade futures, there is no PDT rule and you don't need $25K to start. I'm like Tori in that I used to live with a very profitable trader and saw the money first hand, so I know this is real and it's doable. He trades futures.
@Funkotronimus3 ай бұрын
@@catladytrucker7608 you’re right! that was the main reason i became interested in futures, though im still interested in trading basic stocks ETFs, etc., and willing to put the time and money into hitting the PDT level …that 25k would also act as an emergency fund until I start up a more legit, completely independent emergency fund.

Great video good advice If trading gold or oil options etc Gold price range is approx 0.00-0.80 ish so aroun 75-800 gold will start to short Oil price goes from 0.00-4.50 ish and at about 4.50ish the price of oil usually starts to short Work out how much your monthly expenses are and make that amount equate to 10% of your day trading balance or by knowing how much you need to live on you can then work out how many +10% profitable successful trades you need to make from your day trading balance Eg if you have a 1k trading balance But you need 2k a month to live on you'll need to increase your trading balance by +10% approx 30x etc But if you have a 10k trading balance and only need 2k to live on you only need to increase your day trading balance x 10% approx 5 or 6 time's a month etc Eg you don't need to make lots of trades every day just be very choosey about the trades you take and focus on increasing your trading balance where a low risk +10% of balance makes a big difference On a100k trading balance a person only needs to make 1 x +10% trade per month to be able to live off day or swing trading etc

Most traders fail because they start out trying to day trade and when you day trade = each day is different! "ALL" traders should start out SWING TRADING for success with trending charts = your trendline system should work for them: swing trading "smooths out" the data over longer time periods. Albeit I like moving average crossovers and fib-like indicators for support and resistance levels. Also, most traders start out trading before they trade in simulation demo mode on Tradovate; demo testing their strategy until it produces consistent profits! Never, ever start trading with real, hard-earned capital right off the bat! NEVER EVER!
