This is why I QUIT two Thru Hikes... backpacking is tough, and thru hiking is even tougher.
I failed at my first two thru hiking attempts, and this is the story of each failed thru hike/backpacking trip. My first failed thru hike attempt was the Vermont Long Trail, and the second failed thru hike attempt was the Northville Placid Trail in the Adirondacks. I'm telling these thru hiking/backpacking attempt stories with the hope that you can learn from my mistakes. A thru hike is very difficult regardless of the trail's length, and these stories are proof that even if you fail a thru hike, you can still go on to be successful, as eventually I thru hiked the Appalachian Trail.
